Need help figuring out which way to go on project

So I purchased a 2000 jeep tj that had a blown 2.5l. I purchased a 4.0l and 42rle trans out of a 2003 to install into it. So I got everything installed and mounted in place. Now I'm getting a "no bus" on the dash. I cleaned the gauge cluster and nothing changed. I have been told that the 2000 CCI bus dash with a 2003 PCI bus PCM. My future plans for this is to 4-link and 3-link the suspension. Already have Dana 44's that are trussed and set up. I'm wondering if it's better to Replace the 2000 CCI bus dash, or pull the 42rle and change to a 2000 4.0 wiring harness (which I have) and change transmission to a 32rh. What would be better for what I'm trying to accomplish?

What was the trannie in the 2000 - was it already setup with a 32RH? I love mine and would much prefer that to the 42RLE

No it had the 2.5l with an AX5 behind it.

The 42rle isn't going to work in a 2000 unless you can install the entirety of the doner engine and dash wiring harnesses along with PCM and cluster. At that point, you probably also need the 2003 engine. You effectively need to convert your 2000 into a 2003. A straight same year swap is miserable enough, so good luck.

Yes that why I'm thinking about changing to a 2000 wiring harness and 32rh, so everything wires up perfectly. Are the 2000 and 2003 4.0l the same? will a 2000 wiring harness mate up to the 2003 engine?

Different wiring harness. Different component configurations. Different plugs and connectors.

Yes I'm half and half right now. Engine is a 2003 with 2003 PCM and wiring in Engine compartment. From the engine fuse panel to the cab is year 2000. So I will have to get the wiring from a 2003 inside the cab also and I should be good?

So I got the wiring from the donor 2003 jeep tj unlimited. Both the fuse box and dash wiring. On quick exam of both they appear to have nearly the same connectors and pigtails as the original 2000 wiring. Is that right? how can you tell a CCD bus from a PCI bus?
