Anyone know if you can run rubicon axle shafts (Dana 44) in a Dana 30 assuming you have a 30 spline carrier? Is there anything that would keep that from working?

Thanks for your time!

Dana 30 (30 Spline) - 1.15" axle shaft diameter
Dana 44 (30 Spline) - 1.31 inch axle shaft diameter

Hmmm I thought the 27 spline shafts were 1.15” and If you went to 30 spline then you stepped up to the 1.31”. Same as the tj rubicon shafts.

If you ran the Super 30 locker with the 30 spline side gears, one of the sides has the seal surface in the wrong place. I can verify which side if it matters.

That isn’t the issue I’m facing but could possibly have to deal with that down the road. To clarify when you say side gears what specifically are you referring to? That’s specific to that locker correct?

Shaft splines engage in the side gears. If they don't match, they don't fit. Super 30 is the same 30 spline as the Rubicon shafts.

Gotcha. I think I was confusing myself then.

So the 30 spline Dana 30 shafts are not the same as 30 spline rubicon shafts then as @Irun mentioned?

Yes, one of the Super 30 30 spline shafts is the same as one of the Rubicon TJ 44 shafts and the other one is not the same but only due to the seal surface being in a different location. That is due to the different width of the two center castings. I think Irun meant to type something different if he reads it again.

Gotcha. Then that seems like the right path to go. Appreciate you @mrblaine!
