New top for 2004 Rocky Mountain Edition

Hi I'm sorry if I'm doing this wrong or posting in the wrong place, but I'm in kind of a pickle and don't know where to turn. My father had a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rocky Mountain Edition. It's an incredibly special vehicle that he lovingly customized with real parts from a B-17 Bomber. He was a unique dude lol. He passed away last year and while it's sad to have to, I need to sell it to pay for the expenses that we had to deal with with his passing. Anyway, sorry, to much info. We've gotten it detailed, my son 3-D printed some parts that were damaged and all we need to do is replace the soft top because the window was slashed (apparently thieves don't know you can just unzip the darn thing) Here's where I get into the pickle. The one I bought seems to be too big and when I called the customer service at Rough Country (they were awesome btw) they hadn't even heard of the Rocky Mountain Edition. Help! What do I buy??

I'm sorry for your loss. The Rocky Mountain Edition was just an option package for the Wrangler X. So ensure you get a top for a Wrangler, and not a Wrangler Unlimited. Other than that, they should all be the same. I cannot speak to the quality of a Rough Country top, I've never seen one. Perhaps they just fit loosely?

The other option is that perhaps your father had a frameless top on it, and a standard replacement top doesn't fit without the frame?

Just fyi a rocky mountain edition is no different than a basic tj as far as a top goes.

That is a frameless top. You cannot install a standard replacement top without also installing the associated frame. I believe Rampage makes a budget frameless top that people seem to like. For a higher end option, Bestop.

You're welcome. I've never used a frameless top or ridden in a Jeep with one. Perhaps someone else could make some recommendations for a good budget frameless top.

They aren't my cup of tea strictly based on looks but I have used the rampage one numerous times and it works fine. I will take a factory soft top over a frameless any day.

If you were keeping the Jeep I would steer you away from Rampage tops, as they don't last long, but selling it, you could go with the cheap top instead of getting the more expensive and superior Bestop.

You could get a Bestop replacement framed top... those do come with the frame, but they are around $1200. Also, as @Moglocker suggested, look at Book of Face Marketplace and craigslist for tops... you may be able to get one really cheap there too. (also look into local jeep clubs, maybe someone has one sitting around)

Yeah... 4 years ago I put the Bestop Trektop NX on it was ~$600, and their replacement framed top was $1200... more now.

Also, those cheap tops like the rampage require you to also purchase a header panel, bumping the price even higher...

FWIW, the 04 came with forged Alcoas and no fog lamps. 05 came with Ravines, fog lamps and a 7 speaker stereo. Not sure about the 03.

Umm, sell it without a top and tell the buyer they can choose there own style. Give then a $500 deduct.

I have a 2004 Wrangler RME with a hard top that is in average condition. I know NOTHING about these things and need some help. I am trying to assess its value for a private sale and none of the online estimators seem to have a RME as a choice. Thoughts?
