Absolutely, in fact it is recommended for the conditioning of the seals. A conventional or conventional blend is what our 4.0's prefer as opposed to a full synthetic.

Ok thank you I ordered wrong I got full synthetic high mileage by mistake did not know if I should use it or not
It wouldn't hurt to run it until your next oil change.

Really these things qualify for seal conditioners, due to age, regardless of mileage.
I run Super Tech 5W30 synthetic high mileage oil in mine. Works great. I don't think it's the conventional oil that makes a difference but the high mileage additives. That's specifically what high mileage additives are for.....it helps rubber seals swell slightly.
So, just use a high mileage rated oil of whatever brand and then conventional or synthetic of your choice.

My2004 Jeep odometer reads 202,456. I prefer to read it as 20,245.6 miles.

Yeah I don't drive it to much worked alot but now retired so in it more often now

I bought my 2000 in 2021 with 56k. I am third owner. First one was a Jeep Master Mechanic, second owned it for about 9k miles. And it has been a NE car all its life yet is in amazing condition.
Just my experience , not trying to start an "oil war " . I have run Mobil 1 10-30 High Mileage full synthetic in my 99 242 since 2008 and 101,000 miles ago.
And my wife's 04 242 since 2011 and 122,000 miles ago . No rear main leaks .
Maybe we have the only two TJ's that can use synthetic oil without leaking like the Exxon Valdez .

Well at least two Jeeps can use it without major problems , I hope you find what works for you .
I tried using Castrol Edge high mileage full synthetic and within a week developed a nasty RMS leak. Immediately switched back to Castrol GTX and within 2 weeks the leak was gone.
Thankx got me thinking synthetic may not be the way to go I don't see anything leaking now I'd hate to get it started
I just use the cheapest conventional oil Walmart has, and either the Mopar filter or the Fram whichever they have in stock. Change my oil every 3000 Miles.
