American Racing Headers Long Tube Headers for the Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0

Is there a solution to the lower O2 sensors pigtail length? splicing or?

Can have a pig tail custom made. Seems like TeraFlex has a premade pig tail designed around their long arm system. If I find it I’ll post the link here.

Did a quick google search and found several options. Searched out “jeep o2 sensor extension pigtail”.

Should get them ceramic coated while they’re sitting around collecting dust …. Local powder coating shops can ceramic coat … I still want to try these things out

I have been flip flopping on this. I called ARH and they said any wrap/coating will void the warranty which was a bit off putting. I was going to install my Edelbrock head and header at the same time, but now I think I'm just going to do the exhaust by itself first uncoated. Later I'll do the head and have the header coated while it's back out. This way any short term issues can be resolved before I coat it. Unfortunately the main issue we all worry about is cracking and that won't manifest until later. Moot point after it's coated 🫤

Do you have any pictures of the the kit and everything included? Also would like to see the header to down pipe connection and what type of clamp is used.

That’s BS, but I can see why. You can always remove the coating before sending in for warranty… in actuality the coating will help the stainless from cracking … I wouldn’t coat a used exhaust without supremely cleaning it, the inside will be all carbon’d up. I’d do it first while you’re sitting around.

PS: jealous you have this header AND an edelbrock head laying around. Might as well send the head to get ported and port match with a spare intake manifold.

Not sure how one could remove the coating after it's on, but I wouldn't go through all the trouble anyways. And they only coat the outside in most any case. Sending them used parts vs new doesn't change their prep process very much unless it's pretty nasty. I'll likely do Swain Tech white lightening and rattle can them steel color afterwards as not to stick out too much.

And the Eddy head is already P&P'd with larger LS valves and springs.

Yea, pictures or it didn’t happen , haha. I gotta see what you come up with!!! A Chevy 283 SBC was almost 300hp from the factory in the 60’s. Yes we have less valves/cylinders BUT no reason we can’t hit 300hp with a big flat torque curve with todays technology, modern head, blah blah blah

Actually they beadblast the coating off, my powder coater made a boo boo and just blasted it off and recoated … Also, the coating goes on the inside and the outside of the pipes …

I been thinking of stripping the manifolds off my Jeep and black ceramic coat my stock iron manifolds, and do the shiny polished ceramic coat on my intake manifold (exterior only). The exhaust will be cooler and the intake will reflect heat a little better …

I'm pretty sure I'm right around 300hp right now if not over. I don't expect any huge gains with the Eddy head (current iron head has the same treatment), but hopefully I'll pick up a bit. It'll be almost an entire point of compression higher, so that'll help.

Yeah, I guess you could bead blast most coatings off although I'm dubious about Swain Tech stuff. Maybe though. Seems like more effort than it's worth but I won't pretend to be an expert in bead blasting. After some googling I do see some places claim to do inside and out but almost everyone I've ever seen with coated anything only had the outside done. I called Swain Tech who advertises they do the insides of n/a stuff and they said they try to get in there a little bit there's no way to do the entire inside on something like a header. I'd certainly pay for it if it was offered. Take that for what it's worth.

I've got the gold reflective tape on the bottom of my intake now. Not sure how much it helps, but I am pleasantly surprised it's still sticking on there like the day I installed it.
LOL still waiting.

I'll probably get to it tomorrow. Still trying to get used to this "normal schedule" and having the weekends off like a mere mortal.

did you have the ls valves done local? I regret buying an assembled head from edelbrock that had stock size valves and needed bowl and port work to be ready to run

Russ Pottenger. He's like the stroker guru. He's based out of SoCal. At least you found an Eddy head. They are super hard to get now.

Nice. I got all my stroker parts from russ. He told me to get a bigger cam and send him a bare head when i was putting together parts. I followed the rest of his advise, should have done that too!

Been looking at this header for my 05 LJR, and cannot find a sound clip anywhere! Made an account just to ask if anyone has gotten one installed yet?

Any updates??? I finally got my tummy tuck and need exhaust mods, so instead of modifying just a bracket, my brain things I should replace everything... because I am retarded... I did find where AFE makes a nice looking 3" exhaust, but only for the TJ. I might still buy it and add a 10" extension around the muffler and a longer exhaust tip to get the back end out from under the body. LJ is 10" longer between the wheels and the butt hangs back 5" more than a TJ, so a 12" slash cut stainless exhaust tip can take care of all that.

Having the exhaust tucked 5" farther in from the rear might not be a bad thing for the departure angle. I'd probably just take care of the 10" in front of the rear axle and call it good.
