What ID's a Sahara as a Sahara?

Either I have a super stripped down Sahara or I have a faux Sahara.

My 99 has a 4.0/AT, AC, full console, hardtop, sound bar, rear seat and fog lights.

The liftgate has a defroster and used to have a wiper, now there is just a hole there, no motor, wiper arm or washer hose.

I do not have the rear defroster or rear wiper switches. The blanks seem age appropriate to the rest of the dash.

I also do not have cruise or steering wheel controls for the radio.

The 3rd brake light is missing, I do not believe the liftgate is original to the Jeep. If it was, wouldn't the wiring be there?

The Jeep has been repainted and has a Sahara decal, but no 4.0 decal.

Did I buy a fake Sahara?

Looks real. A VIN decoder might be able to tell you. Looks real from the outside. Most of the things you say are missing have nothing to do with standard Sahara trim but are frequently removed or modified. The smooth, wider, painted fender flares, matching rocker trim, and unique interior (seats really) are what make it a Sahara. And no TJ had steering wheel radio controls.

At a glance looking at the driving lights and the flares- it is one or what is left of one.

Likely had a soft top stock and was tapped in the rear or they backed into something and finished off the tailgate and 3rd brake light.

People are a lot more likely to fake a Rubicon than a Sahara-

Thanks for the link. I have a Sahara. It has the 2TG and 24G packages. I know the 2TG is towing and I do have the upgraded cooling, and baby tow hitch, haven't checked the alternator. I forgot to check the tag on the diff to see what gears I have. I was turning 2100 at 70mph on 32" tires, so probably 3.07's.

It looks like I have everything on the build sheet except the add-a-trunk. Thats ok, I would have removed it anyway.

According to the build sheet, originally the Jeep had a soft top with full metal doors, so that solves the liftgate mystery.

Has anyone figured out what the 24G group is?

I bought this in Tampa, DSO was Orlando, so probably has spent it's life in Florida.
