I generally remember my dreams but the really bad ones stand out ie: someone I love dying, having an affair etc.
This conversation reminds me of the last time I quit smoking I used Chantix (don't think it's on the market anymore). The Dr told me it works well but the biggest drawback is the dreaming. He was not kidding!! I woke up most mornings crying or on the verge of tears because something awful had happened and I couldn't shake the feeling even after waking up. They were so vivid and lifelike.
I am the guy that falls off the cliff just as he is falling asleep and flails like crazy. My wife has learned not to get close to me when o first fall asleep lol
