A heads up to anyone looking to buy a TJ with a 32RH transmission

Correct me if I am wrong but the 32 RH is a updated version of the A999 transmission, basically they added a O.D unit on the back. They used the A999 transmission in V8 powered cop cars because it has a lower first gear and more robust internals. Fundementally it should do very well in a Wrangler.

What do you mean?
Your first several posts here pissed a number of members off, me included. Then while you were still bragging about Ford transmissions and telling everyone the 32RH was a POS you asked me the below question which I ignored.
Well at least the Ford transmission would got the 18 wheeler a few miles down the road before it failed😂. If they're so apples to oranges, then what would Ford have put a "32RH" transmission in other than a half ton pickup truck?
Then you pushed me again saying I didn't answer that question...
Im not here to troll. Im just reporting of my unpleasant experience with the 32rh transmission. The rest of my jeep is very well made. I just havent been impressed with the 32rh. Ohh and you didn't answer my question.
To that I said don't push your luck, you know that you had already received a warning after your first posts that many of us considered trolling, if not downright antagonistic. That is why I said don't push your luck... as in you were living here on borrowed time. Today's posts have been better and the antagonistic tone from your first posts last night has at least tapered off.

They added a lockup torque converter to it so the transmission would run cooler and give better mpg, not an Overdrive. :)

I worked as a transmission rebuilder in a small shop for 10 years, before what I do now. To an experienced builder a 32RH is a walk in the park to get right and a sturdy little unit. They make simple upgrades to add cooler flow in Park also.

I do not mean to further ignite any Ford/Chevy/Dodge super transmission arguments. And I didn't mind rebuilding Ford transmissions, ford is one of the toughest domestics there is to rebuild, all around they have so many variants and split years and weird changes they streamline nothing. No, I am not referring to the C4/C6. And in the transmission industry, the AOD is not regarded as durable. Be as pissed as you like, I would place my bet on a 32RH would put up a better fight as far as durability than an AOD.

It's great your half ton ford hauls peanuts so well at 25MPH though, that's nice.

It seems your main goal is in fact to further ignite debates, and I dare you to attempt to pull one of these peanut wagons faster than 25-30 mph. You clearly have never been around farms.

I may just be a foolish bystander, but if my parents have taught me anything. that generally translates almost directly to "shut up before you say something you might regret"
What have i said that i may regret? I have not threatened anyone on here and i wish no one any harm. I have not used profanity or vulgar language.

Every so often one person has a bad experience. Being the internet, you usually only hear about the bad experiences. I can assure you that as a whole the 32RH is a very highly praised transmission that isn’t known for major issues.

Not my main goal at all, bubba. I'm not the one that Joined an internet Forum about a specific vehicle (Jeep TJ) and spouted off BS about a known good transmission. It's clear you don't know anything about transmissions. I've built thousands. You are really not worth the time, and yes I've spent plenty of time around farms and the area of the country I live in is surrounded by them. Ranch hands can break anything. That's what I know. You must be a ranch hand.

Continue on and get the ban hammer. I'm done with your trolling garbage.

I chose the 32rh. In fact it's a scaled down 727 torqueflight, so it's no POS.

If you really do like your jeep, put a stick in it, lots of folks go that route, or the reverse.

Kinda reminds me of what my grandmother always said, "If ya got nuthin nice to say, best say nothin at all"

I don't understand. He says it's a shite transmission based on his limited experience with it. Lots of others say it's not. End of story. It's pretty clear at this point that the conversation is going nowhere. Why continue the dialog? No questions of substance are being asked anymore and no relevant answers are being given.

Here I am continuing the dialog....

Ive seriously considered doing that. I would need a lot of spare time and a wrecked donor jeep of the same year model to do it at a reasonable cost.

I would say its just that but everyone ive talked to in person told me its a troublesome transmission. Most of which have had similar problems to mine. I should have listened to these people and found a stick shift on

Bottom line, how many years/ miles did the tranny make it before the rebuild?
Find another shop.
The transmission had likely been out of the jeep before i got it. When replacing the input seal i noticed tool marks on the input shaft. Possibly from the seal being replaced earlier? Idk what milage it was done it. I replaced it at approximately 115k. The shop rebuilt it at about 135k. It now has a little more than 140k miles on it. I dont know what repairs were done before I had it, but I saw tool marks on the input shaft.

I had a Burban tranny rebuilt, to the top, I didn't want to rebuild again, towing clutch pack, the works, cost me $2600, 15 years ago. Had about 500 miles on it and it died. Shop owner drove 180 miles to tow it and make it right. A solenoid one of his guys didn't replace in the rebuild. No charge and a big apology (and he had it delivered back to me).
Find
that
guy.

Are the rebuilt 32RH at Autozone worth it? Mine has 328K miles and started slipping recently.

I changed the filters and fluid, it slips until it warms up, as it is my daily driver I would rather fix it before it goes out.

I am so happy to have two tj's. A 2001 sport with the 32 and an 03 Rubicon with a 5 speed. Every single time i run the Ruby i think of how great it would be to have the 32 instead of that hunk of junk 5 speed.

Where would you go to get a your 32 rebuilt? I am in mid Missouri.

I looked around local not a lot of people rebuilding transmissions. I could go to St Louis or Kansas City but it's hard to authenticate reputation.
