The good stuff cost. The protection is worth it IMO. The RR protectors are $30.
I'll have more than enough to do my tub rails. It is 17' of material.
Took my freshly cleaned 97 up into the Ouachitas to visit a cool natural spring, and then did some fire trails I hadn't been on, one of which turned pretty gnarly about halfway up. At which point I discovered that my cable shifter needs some sort of adjustment because I didn't really want to go into 4LO easily, and then I getting back into 2HI was harder than it should have been.
And I forgot just how early this thing shifts. I've messed with the TV cable before and not really had any success, but maybe today is the day I monkey with it some more. I'll be driving it back to Dallas tomorrow morning with a laundry list of stuff to do before we head to S.M.O.R.R. in mid-September.
Related to the SMORR trip, I've been flat towing when I go to Hot Springs, but Seymour, MO is a lot further and have been considering trailering. (A) I've never driven a trailer and backing one up scares the crap out of me, and (B) I was concerned that it was going to be too heavy. I took the jeep to the scales at the dump yesterday, and with doors off, hard top on, 1/4 of gas...subtracting off my weight had it a touch under 3800 lbs. I will have very little in the way of gear and no additional people. FIL's tandem 18' trailer weighs in at 1750 lbs, which puts me around 950lbs (15%) under my advertised tow rating. So that just leaves me sacking up & learning how to do what every good ole boy in the world already knows how to do: back a trailer.

- re-gear
- install the true-trac I picked up
- replace the stereo
- put the hard top on either the 02 or daughter's 97 / put the soft top back on mine

Had a "no-crank" problem yesterday. Was running great. I was out delivering mail and shut off at a cluster box. Came back and no-go!

Dude, let's go! I'm in the lapis blue, hard top & no doors. That drive down the back of HNM is nice, lots of trails to explore in there. The trail I was on was behind Fisher Mtn. If you come off 270 and turn south onto Logan Gap, go around the backside of the mountain where it forks to gravel on the right. It was somewhere in this circled area, headed to the south. I'm always paranoid about running into the Forest Service, but there was no water bar so I went for a ways before I decided that maybe solo testing a jeep that hadn't really been driven in the better part of a year with a winch remote that might not even have working batteries was not the best idea I had ever had. It wasn't like a hard 3-star trail or anything, but it wasn't your average fire trail up a mountain.

You were off Collier Springs Rd and the spring must’ve been Collier Springs, beautiful place!… I had two places in mind to go yesterday, one was over hickory nut mountain and eat at the Royal Mexican restaurant or go through Collier Springs Road to Highway 27 to Glenwood and eat at the fish nest restaurant… We went over hickory nut mountain and ate at a Mexican restaurant in Hot Springs… I believe I’ve been on all those FS roads of Collier Springs, some are pretty sketchy…
Try putting your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and use your door mirrors when you get the trailer hooked up.
Finally changed the oil on both Dana 44 axles 1000 miles after re-gear. I know it's supposed to be after 500 miles but I'm a procrastinator. There was some ferrite slurry on the drain plug magnet but not as much as expected thanks to my friend and master mechanic Dave who did my re-gear.
Yep, Collier Springs. I’m a little surprised people take their cars to those crystal mines, the main road is pretty sketch. I’ve been all over that area fetching the dogs during deer season. If they go over fisher it’s gonna be a long day.
Me & Juicy are in hot springs now, MIL lives off 270 near Brady Mtn. I guess there are some trails up in there. The road to that ram looks like a nice drive too.
The easiest way I can think of to help you back your trailer up straight, is to steer towards which ever mirror the trailer is turning to. If it's starting to turn a direction you don't want it to go steer the wheel towards it. That will bring the trailer back behind you.
The trailer will do the opposite of what you do with the steering wheel.
I knew it was somewhere down there in Cooper Country.
Eglin is in the Florida panhandle not to far from Destin area!!!!
I have delivered several loads of steal down there. Always a pain in the butt to get on that base.

Drove the fam to pick up a Facebook marketplace find that didn’t fit anywhere so my wife had to hold it, then we went to the park! Beautiful top-down kinda day today
So first step of stretch was to get these fitted up and see what we were cutting too. Will be relocating EVAP system but made some good progress. Decision today is flip down tailgate kit or leave while we were doing some metal work to make em fit before having powder coated body color.
Went for a ride and saw this homeless guy standing on the corner at the intersection. At least he was honest. I rolled down the window and said "sorry, all I have is cash on me." He wasn't amused.
