So, out of the blue, my Facebook started blowing up today. A couple weeks ago, some douchebag posted up pictures of his Jeep in a few places he wasn't supposed to be. Then, he 'turned victim' and blamed everyone else, claimed ignorance, etc. Anyway, his whining after being bitched at must have gotten some attention from the dnr...today, I saw this in a post.
For reference, This is the same spot, a few months ago and taken facing from right to left in the above picture...
And a decent shot from May 2021
Apparently, in order to preserve a shoreline elsewhere and prevent folks from driving the the cliff face at the bottom of the steps here , they decided to destroy other natural features...to protect different natural features?

I'm kind of at a loss for words. I know the trails change over time, and progress means certain things need to change, but I REALLY don't understand the thought here. If they have equipment big enough to bust that rock up and grade a dirt road, they have the means to get said equipment up and down without destruction, I would think. Why destroy that which you're ostensibly trying to protect?
Just thought you all should know that this crap isn't just happening out west. Join a 4x4 club with some clout in Gov. The more voices there are, the more seriously they have to take us. I am glad they left the stuff by the tree...there are still a couple decently hard lines there and that they didn't close it altogether...but man. I bet I could get a lowered honda civic back there now.
