I am a little confused with ARB instruction manual about a grinding op for improved lube flow. This manual is for Dana 35 27 spl, do not think it would be different for a 30 spl. But it refers Dana 44 illustrations for this op. Nothing seems to be done here. Is it my guess the documentation department got lazy and used 44 illustrations in place. Should I grind as illustrated? Probably should the way it looks. Manual also refers to using a spreader. I didnā€™t see the use of one in BFH video. Popped out without too much effort.

To answer your question, in the Dana 44 pic the bearing cap goes right up against the tube opening of the housing and the arb parts keep oil from moving back and forth. On your Dana 35 it looks like you have space there? When you put a cap back on is there any opening? Btw,keep track of which cap goes on which side and which side goes up. They are machi ed to fit the housing in a specific way. I like to use number punch on each cap and the gasket surface to make sure they go back where they should

After our last ride the water got into the starter and front differential . I cleaned the milky oil out and filled with new gear oil . The starter was not fully engaging so I removed it and sprayed penetrating oil in it and ran it before reinstalling it . Now the starter works like new . Luckily it was clean water and we weren't stuck in it .

Yes I marked caps, I do see a way for lube to pass. I will send better pics to ARB on this one. Thanks

Those are actually Saugeye, that are a Walleye/Sauger hybrid. State of Ohio places several hundred thousand fingerlings in various lakes across the state yearly as they supposedly cannot reproduce. The majority of those lakes which are public, place a 15ā€ minimum size limit on them. Fish in the pic are about 22/23ā€ which would make them about 4-5 years old. AND, they are delicious šŸ˜Š

We have walleye in the PNW and they are very tasty.

Join a local group out at the Weiser sand dune. Definitely cycled the suspension from unloaded to loaded. Sand was friendly with good moisture for traction and a semi dried up pond area for some slippery mud fun. Top inch or two was thawed and the base frozen underneath- perfect for 4H doing 4 wheel drifts.

Power lines are only like 4 feet above the Jeep coming over this dune.IMG_4737.jpeg

Hit the scratches you can see here with a rattlecan, and will re-install tomorrow.

Despite being as careful as I could be, I had not one, but two caps get their needle bearings out of whack, one had to be pressed back out to fix. Not sure what I'm doing wrong - I had one similar situation last year when I rebuilt the rear DS.

The green looks pretty good, I just forced myself to start this job and had to order more parts as what I don't break I renew.

I looked at PRP site, I did not see where to custom color trim and is that a Tuffy console? I have same interior trim. I see you reside in Vista Ca. My Jeep came from Kona Hawaii in 2005, I believe the second owner was down your way, there was a bunch of Safari Del Sol bumper sticks on. Donā€™t believe rig was modified then. Trying to get some more history on it. My Jeep was a rental on Hawaii, thus my tag. I do like your new seats, very slick. šŸ‘

You can choose from the colors PRP has available, this is 220 plv tan vinyl all the way around with black Italian stitching and no logos, yes itā€™s a tuffy console


The safari del sol is one of the largest 4x4 events on the west coast near the salten sea / truck heaven hills area /west end of Occitillo Wells , usually the first weekend in march every year , I use to go every year but it became a bit of a cluster the last few years so we would head out the weekend before

Something to look forward too. Thanks for the info on seats and all I have seen are black consoles.

The console was originally black i painted it with SEM camel color interior paint itā€™s a close match to the earlier tan interior, a touch more orange in the tan color than stock but very close

Well it turns out it wasnā€™t the tensioner squeaking. Took the belt off tonight after work. Alternator, idler, water pump and A/C compressor all felt smooth and didnā€™t make any unusual noises when spinning them as fast as I could by hand. The power steering pulley has some noise when moving it back and forth rotationally. I donā€™t feel any movement up and down on the pulley or in and out. When driving, the steering feels the same as it always does. I couldnā€™t look at it any more tonight because I need to get up at 6am for work tomorrow, so it will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday. Is this normal for a power steering pump? It doesnā€™t seem like it should be to me.
