Jeep Wrangler PCM and module repair and replacement

What have you 3D printed for your TJ?

I haven't printed anything lately for my LJ, but I did recently build a new workstation with the aim (in part) of handling 3D scanner data for future Jeep projects. Now if we could just get some feedback from those members with scanners...you know who you are (you've had since xmas, you slackers).... 😀

I tried the scanner out again on Sunday and wasn't happy with my results. I was trying to wireless bridge to my computer from another room and I think that was a lot of the issue.

I need to hook it up direct and see if I get more control over it.

I was trying to scan a bottle jack and for some reason it couldn't detect the back side of it. Front looked pretty good.

What scanner did you get?

The thing was the computer was telling me I was too close but the phone app was saying I was too far away. They weren't playing well. Had the kid in the other room moving it around with no luck.

Have you seen this:
He sets up a USB repeater to get his scanner working from a remote device.

I have not and I'll have to watch it to see if it is applicable. The ferret pro is setup to wirelessly transmit over wifi, even the phone I was using was getting the info via wifi.

I had the bottle jack on an electric turntable to rotate it and the scanner on its included tripod. the file gets pretty large and was stored on my phone and then I sent it via wifi to the computer. I need to figure out how to work with the model as I had more stuff that I needed to remove from the file and it wasn't working intuitively for me, I need to do more research.

I believe it has all the capability I need but I need to figure out how I need to utilize it to do what I want it to.

But, my first test needs to be connected directly to the computer as I believe the computer has more functionality than the phone app. This will eliminate the unnecessary wifi transfer.

However I'll be all over the country for the next three weeks so I'm not sure when I will have more time to play with it.

Most Windows programs will run under WINE these days. Of course, I have one that won't - very poorly written but niche software. I'm working on replacing it with a bash script, but that will take time.

...for one of these, by any chance? I designed this maybe 5 years ago for my F150, so I could put a bottle jack in place of the factory scissor jack behind the rear seat.

That little hole on the right was for a shock cord retainer... but the jack fit tightly enough I never needed it.

I didn't like my TJ seatbelt retainers being held on with the bungees. I'm printing a new version for hook & loop:

Nope, I want to put my safe jack in a packout case and would like to print an organizer unit for it. So I’d scan the packout and the jack components so I can model what I need.

Given the change to Win 11 Pro from 8.1 Pro (I built my last workstation ~10 years ago), I have concerns that some of them will even run correctly in Windows. Seeing mixed info on some of the software forums.

I hope one day to be doing stuff cool enough/complex enough to need something like that.

I got the Bambu Lab A1 recently, and it amazes me: the print quality is great, the automation is incredible, and ease of use blows my old Ender 3 out of the water. I set up a dry box with 4 filaments, and they're dead easy to switch even mid-print. I can see how an AMS would be awesome, but I really don't need it.
