Yep. Makers Mark Cask Strength is an exquisite bourbon with a wonderful taste and mouthfeel.

Well worth the extra $10 or so for the cask strength as opposed to the already delicious regular makers mark!

Of all the liquors I enjoy, single malt scotches, vodka, a few blended whiskeys, rum, and a few others, bourbon is the one I just can't drink. The last bourbon I drank was a single barrel around the campfire after a gnarly day on the trail. I could taste it for days afterward and it wasn't a pleasant aftertaste.

I think some of us just aren't cut out for bourbon. :)

Lol I was close to making this same post last night because I was in the bathroom at a place called "The Forum"

Outside is Beautiful

I used to drink brown spirits like bourbon and Whisky but after a very hard 10 or so years of drinking I cannot touch anything except beer and vodka nowadays. Bourbon makes me want to kill myself.

Love Bourbon! Straight on the rocks! Makers is really good. I typically have a bottle on hand. My "go to" lately has been some good ol' Kentucky shine though. Just a few gulps, and you're done!

Sorta like Jerry above I never could get a taste for most Bourbons but Makers 46 is one exception and pretty good. It is not my first choice though and will choose a Canadian or Irish Whisky before a Bourbon. With a choice I like a good aged Blended Scotch (JW Gold or Blue) or a nice Single Malt.

I quit drinking years ago, but what I liked best was Crown Royal with a touch of Amaretto Stone Sour, over ice. Now if I could just stop smoking these disgusting cigarrettes. I've tried many times.

Spoiler alert.... great Mojito recipe at the end! ;)

Travis, you can quit smoking in the same way I did years ago... just decide you're done smoking and don't light that next cigarette. Too many hear others say they tried but couldn't quit so they think it must be hard which gives an easy excuse to light that next one up. Go for it... I'm not all that strong-willed so if I can quit, anyone can if they just don't take the easy way out and light that next one up.

Back to boozing... this has been the summer of Mojitos for me. I discovered how to make REALLY good Mojitos last summer & this summer my wife started enjoying making me one pretty much every night. WOW ARE THEY GOOD!

Quick recipe which is what we have settled on... you need a TALL glass, ice cubes, white rum, one whole lime per Mojito, and one small can of, yes, 7-up which does a better job than simple syrup does.

Cut the lime into quarters and muddle (mash up) each lime quarter one at a time in the bottom of the glass, leaving all four lime quarters in the glass. Lime juice from a bottle won't do it, you also need the essential oils in the lime rind itself. Add 1.5 to 2 ounces of white rum, fill glass with ice cubes, fill with 7-up and stir. It is tradition to also muddle mint leaves into Mojitos but we stopped adding them since they're so hard to keep fresh and we don't miss them.

There's just not much better on a hot day than a good Mojito. And since it is still hot here in San Diego, I do believe I'll be having another tonight. :D

I'm not sure if I'll get into the red wine tonight, or some Canadian Whiskey. Decisions, decisions...

Oh, just remembered I have some dark Cuban rum too. Ahhhh!!
