Jeep TJ O2 Sensor Guide (Symptoms, Codes, Replacement & Fixes)

Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

There seems to be some missing information for the year 2000 model 6 cylinder regarding Walker O2 sensors. My 2000 has 4 sensors up/down bank 1, up/down bank 2. So, I am assuming that is what I see referenced to as California emissions? I only see 2 sensors listed on the above list for the 2000 year model. Rock auto is giving me the below part #'s.

Bank 1, Sensor 1 - Walker 25024943
Bank 1, Sensor 2 - Walker25024942
Bank 2, Sensor 1 - Walker 25024942
Bank 2, Sensor 2 - Walker 25024942

It seems odd to me that 3 of the sensors are the same part number when almost all of the OE NTK sensors were different part numbers.

Can anyone verify that the info from Rock auto is correct before I order?

Thank you!

Hello you all , I have had a problem today , Hope someone can help me with this. I call Jeep dealership here in spain a few days ago and ask them with my vin number the oem refs of the o2 sensors, they told me that my jeep , 4.0 2000 had 4 and bought the same references that jrob237 puts here, but today in the workshop we have seen that my jeep only has 2 o2 sensors, its an EU spec, so I have not plug any of the ones I had because i am not sure if they are that ones the same for the jeeps with only 2 sensors or the refs are other ones from walker . I am lost :(

Does someone has the oem refs for the o2 sensors for Jeeps with two sensors only ?
So i can croscheck with walker ones

Thanks

Walker Oxygen sensor part numbers for a 2000 (Federal Emission) 4.0l are:

350-34439 for UPSTREAM and DOWNSTREAM.

This is what I am using in my 2000 Wrangler 4.0 with Federal Emissions, for both the UPSTREAM (pre-catalytic converter) oxygen sensor and DOWNSTREAM (post-catalytic converter) oxygen sensor.

Thanks a lot AWayne for your Quick response !
So it uses the same ref for both upstream and downstream ? Ok

So I guess all the 4 o2 sensors I bought they are unservible for me now :(

Had you have any problems with this walker o2 sensors you have installed?

Thank you so much friend

No problem at all! I'm actually at work, at a parts store, so this is easy!

The Walker 250-24943 interchanges to a Bosch Oxygen Sensor, which then interchanges to the 350-34439 I listed.

The Walker 250-24942 interchanges to a Bosch oxygen sensor for the Downstream side.

Based on this, I would try the 943 in the upstream, and the 942 in downstream if you cannot return them.

If you can return them, however, get the part numbers I mentioned.

I'm not 100% certain but I want to say the Export TJs didn't use the same sensors as the Federal emissions 2 sensor Jeeps. I know there are a couple posts in this thread that talk about the export sensors but it's been quite a while since I read all the way through the thread.

You know Awayne I think this you have mentioned is like that. That the 943 up and the 942 down are gonna work, because here in spain the refs have to do with that ones. Here they only have the oem refs
56041212AE (up) 943
56041213AG (Down) 942
For the 2 sensors 4.0 in Europe

And that is the same you are saying so it would have to work.

The only thing I dont understand is that I thought you said before you installed the same sensor up and down. The other walker ref.

Thanks for This thing you have wrote, has give me some light

Hi there! I'm not meaning to restart an old thread but I have an issue With the walker 02 sensors Listed from @Chris stating that the 24942 from Walker is the Upstream Sensor for the 1999 Jeep TJ 4.0 whilst the 24943 is the downstream.

Rockauto and Mopar giant both show conflicting information with 24943 as the Upstream Sensor instead

but Another also lists 24942 as the Upstream like this thread does.
Very conflicting information
Screenshots are in the comment section to try and avoid a massive Message

I Also am Incredibly confused and stuck between the 250 or the 350 Walker Differences..

Hi there! I'm not meaning to restart an old thread but I have an issue. With the walker 02 sensors what is Listed from @Chris is the 2942 for the upstream and 2943 for the downstream

Ive found 2 Sites that has a note for the 99 on the 2942 Product pages. I am beyond confused

I will attach screenshots from one of the sites

What is it youre confused about?

If you filled out the information on your profile it would probably help others help you.

What I am reading is that sensor will do the upstream for 4.0l 2000 Federal emissions and 1999 all. So im guessing you have one of those 2 years. And your location is NZ, again I'm guessing New Zealand. Federal and CA does not apply to exports. You might ask @Kiwi TJ or another New Zealand member what they are running.

I'm not sure if we have a separate thread that covers export model O2 sensors yet or not but that might be a good idea.

@Chris Is there such a thread yet?

Yehp New Zealand Sorry

Sorry if I worded it rather confusing I've reworded the whole post

Rockauto for example shows me to use the 24943 Walker as my upstream. Mopar Giant Lists 56041212AE as My Upstream which Correlates to the 24943 Also

But this thread along with Another page I found Says the Opposite, (24942 for the Upstream .

I will attach photos of what else I'm seeing showing the 24942 as the Upstream like this thread does. I will attach the others in another reply

Very conflicting information. And for my year specifically

What can I do for that

Start a new thread.

Did you clear the codes?

Can you read live ODB data?
