Went through this same process last year at this time. Number 3 piston skirt ended up in the oil pan and the sound was just like yours. Got the quote on a reman and decided it was worth the try to put new pistons in it over the price they gave me. I got the pistons and rods from the kit that Dex sells along with a full gasket set, new head, and manifold bolts. This is a job that can be done in a weekend easily if not in a long day. If you watch the videos from Dex and take your time it is not a hard process and can be done in the jeep without pulling the engine. Also don't make the mistake I did and decide to change the lifters while you are there. One of the new lifters decided to eat itself up on the cam lobe and then we were taking it apart again to do a cam. Right now I have around 10K miles on the motor since the work and it is running good with no complaints. Feel free to ask any questions you have on this job.
