My 2000 tj with my 4.0 is especially reactive to road crown. I feel like I constantly have to adjust my steering too. This is fine at low speeds but on the freeway it sucks. Even at low speeds I'm still having to drive uphill if there's crown. I have a heavy duty old man emu lift that's about 50k miles/6 years old. I run 33" ko2s that are about the same age. I have stock upper and lower control arms (that were replaced a few years after the lift. As part of my troubleshooting I had the alignment checked. They said it was fine and sent me on my way. What do you guys think? Before I go down the rabbit hole of alignment, is there room for moderate improvement?

Inadequate caster due to the lift and stock control arms. Install a set of adjustable front lower control arms, adjusted longer than stock to improve caster and steering. The adjustment will be a compromise between caster and front pinion angle. I'm sure someone else can explain it in greater detail if needed.

Check the alignment yourself. How much air are you running in those tires? Are they bald yet?

What mods do you have? BDS 1.5-2 inch lift kit. 🤔

I've tried less air, more air, replaced steering box. Rotated tires. Replaced jks track bar bushings. Tires aren't bald, it takes a lot for a ko2 to get bald, but they are 6 years old and probably have 45k miles on them. I did also consider they could be an issue. If it was the tires I would have thought the 5 way rotation would have altered the behavior. No matter what it's about time to swap them out. On another note I put Falken Wildpeak AT4 on my pickup and love em. Took it to a Jeep shop in the area and had them look everything over for any loose bushings etc, everything was tight. It's been going on for 3 years and I just drive the rig less than I used to because of it. I also have jks quick disconnect sway bar links. Do not have a bds lift kit. No idea where that came from. Working on editing it. When I did the OME lift I also did rancho rs5000x shocks all around.

I've ordered upper and lower control arms from RockJock. The uppers are the double adjustable. It may be overkill but I really want to improve the ride. If anyone has a link to dialing in the pinion vs caster angle, id be grateful. I'll be buying an angle finder next. I think the gist is that as I adjust the control arms to get more caster, it's also turning the front diff and at some point that angle creates drive line vibrations.

I have a similar setup, 33s, my first alignment after a 2” lift was 4.5 and 5 deg caster. With stock length control arms.

After 2 full rotations out, longer, on the front, lower, control arms, it’s at 5.5 and 6 deg caster. It was a noticeable improvement. I left the front uppers at stock length.

That's great feedback. Thx.
