Exhaust hanger not aligning

Using the axle as a visuar guide the muffler appears to be rolled quite a bit and hanging low judging from the gap to the heat shield above. Get it flattened out and and get a jack under it for a gentil lift.

Ok I will try and jack it up a little after work and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice

Interesting, i thought it was just me being stupid.

While I was under my jeep doing the rear shocks I noticed that the exhaust hanger had snapped off. I bought a universal one from amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMWMHXFP?tag=wranglerorg-20

it didn't even come close to lining up, so I just abandoned it. The exhaust feels solid enough in that it doesn't move, but I might need to revisit at some point. I could fabricate one, but I expect I'll need to replace the whole exhaust in ayears time anyway

Get a heavy wire looped around the pipe a few times and up thru the rubber for a temp support, thats a lot of weight suspended from the muffler inlet. A couple of good bumps could make for a nice mess.

Ok so I was able to get it in the hanger but it’s trying to pull itself out and has a lot of pressure on it. Is this normal?

Judging from the pic in post 14 you can see where the tail pipe was originally rubbing the parking brake cable above, what's keeping you from lifting the assembly.

Well I originally had it installed under the parking break but this time I put it over the parking break. And it’s all in but it’s got a lot of tension on it.

"normal" work pissed me off yesterday so spent a few hours making and welding a new exhaust hanger
