So I'm looking to replace the shocks and springs in my TJ and I'm looking for some recommendations. Let me start by saying that I scoured the internet for answers for what I'm looking for and came up with a few potential candidates but I was hoping to get some feedback. I'm not looking for a refined modern ride. I grew up with old trucks and I appreciate the theater and moderate terror of them so I'm looking for something with a bit of that old school character short of "back seat of the school bus" energy. Something that bounces around a bit but is still good for trails and highway use. I'm looking for 3.5" springs and shocks to get a small increase in lift over the 3" spacer lift that's in it now.

So far some ideas I found were the JKS JSPEC shocks and Rock Krawler 3.5" triple rate springs.

Do you all have any suggestions?

What tire size do you plan on running? What are your goals for the Jeep... Forest Service roads, rock crawling, overlanding, daily driver?

In the resources section we have how to guides for running 33s and 35s and the necessary supporting modifications.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I'm running 33" tires and the goal is to do some off roading like service roads and moderate trails. It will be spending a majority of its time on road.

I’m pretty sure you can fit 33’s with am OME 2.5” spring set, stock control arms and track bars AND a Wizard supplied 1.25” body lift, this may also want the 1” MML.

Nice low budget with a great look

Make the shocks are either too long or too short. Also, over-inflate the tires.

I have 33s with Rancho 2.5" springs, no BL, no MML. Can still do moderate trails like Fins n Things. Serves my purposes and there are no clearance issues.

I have adjustable arms and RS9000s all round, so not really budget.

Edit: 1 month later now have a MML, still no BL and still running 33s. This resolved a rear driveshaft angle issue with the Barnes bolt-on skid causing me to run some spacers, but made the front driveshaft vibrations a bit worse at higher speeds. I've never been entirely free of them since I bought this new.

Ok so I've been trying to figure this suspension build out and I've been reading up and using the FAQs (which are amazing), but I've come to a set of questions that I can't seem to figure out and was hoping for some advice.

So the TJ is a Rubicon that a PO installed a 3" spacer lift on. I'm looking to get it to sit 1" taller without doing a body lift. What I'm trying to figure out is that the Rubicon supposedly sits 1" taller from the factory by using 1" taller springs and shocks. If that's the case, then wouldn't the 3" spacer lift effectively be a 4" lift over the other models? If that's the case, then would I need basically a 5" lift to get 1 more inch of height? I really don't want to buy 4" springs and shocks just to end up where I already am.

The TJ Rubicon had the same factory ride height as all other factory TJs. They did not have a factory lift.

Rubicon’s did not have different springs and shocks.

Factory springs are all now 20+ years old and sagging. You need a spring that will give you 4” of lift over stock. 16” front, 12” rear

ok, thank you! I was under the impression that the Rubicon was 1" taller.

The Currie springs are the leading contender right now. I have everything except the springs, shocks, and bump stops.

Currie bump stops are lovely because they retain the springs. They don't pop out, rip off your bump stop and then your track bar mount guillotines your fuel line and the pump wires.

Shocks contain the springs. The fuel line and it's wiring harness should be secured out of the pathway of the track bar.

He wants to promote his YouTube channel by conflating his uniquely stupid problems with being helpful.

We all gotta eat brother.

Being stupid on the internet is a valid career path nowadays. It's better than going to college, that I can tell you.
