Favorite Garden Hose?

This forum is good at spending money — other people's money. First it's Jeep parts. Then it's tools. Now it's hoses.

I just ordered a Dramm, and if the wifey likes it, I'll get her another one. We've been shopping, and buying/returning junk. Thanks @mrblaine for pointing out something worth having.

I can't speak to the quality of the Gempler option but I do know they carry a lot of good stuff. If you do go with the Dramm option, once you get it, you'll wonder why you ever messed with crappy stuff.

I’ve messed with so many crappy hoses, manifolds, sprinklers, etc. I finally came to the conclusion that Home Depot, Bomgaars, and Tractor Supply don’t sell anything worth buying as far as quality hoses or water accessories go.

Yes! I should mention that I got mine at a specialty Garden shop that's not a big box store. I was a landscaper back then so I asked around and got what the nursery used. Probably $100 today for the same one.

Mostly luck and educated guessing based on getting away from mainstream junk and hunting for something different. Like most here, I've bought all the stuff HD has and not been a tiny bit pleased when they die after a year when we forgot and left them on. What started that wasn't forgetting. We had a rabbit infestation and I was using a motion sensor sprinkler to try and keep them out from under a section of the house. They don't work without a hose on full time and that killed them in short order in the heat.

I have one of the Dramm's hooked up to the float valve on our outside swamp cooler. It has been on for a month and was used the same way all last summer and the one before with ill effect. If it dies, I'll go get another one just like it.

We have 3 things that kill garden hoses. Heat, high water pressure and forgetfulness. In the past, if we forgot and left the hose bib on, the heat and pressure would ruin a hose in short order. I grew weary of buying Home Depot grade overly expensive junk and purchased a couple Dramm Colorstorm in both 5/8" and 3/4". I now own 6 for various uses and leave them on 24/7 in the summer with zero issues or failures and have for several years.

When I bought the first one, I likely would have purchased the Gempler version since it now higher heat and pressure rated.

I had to go look at mine that I bought ar Ace because I didn't know the brand and it is a Dramm. So far it's taken a couple of Teddy Bear Cholla hits with no damage.
