What did you do to your TJ today?

The TJ finally got relieved yesterday......It has been the daily driver since a year ago last February. Got the HHR back from the transmission transplant doctor. Who knew there were wiring changes between 2007 and 2008?
To explain, my shoulders have been complaining about arthritis for the last 15 years, but the last 5 have been the worst. I figured it would be easier to put an automatic transmission in the HHR than the Jeep so that became the plan. Computer and wiring problems have plagued this project from the start.....Mechanic found a donor car but it is a year different than the patient. It's back in my driveway at a cost of money that could have bought a similar car with twice the mileage and unknown problems. My shoulders are already happier.

Rollover valve was sticking, so had to drop the tank to sand it down a little. Been running for a week without it, and yes, that did trip a CEL. I'll put it back in this Saturday.

Had a great time camping over the weekend in Copper Harbor and doing trail rides.
Survived the 1100 mile round trip, too

What on earth gave you this impression? If you have an 03-06 TJ the HHR will probably be a lot harder, but if you have a 97-02 TJ the HHR will be much harder.

Drove BB to work, dang new shocks make a world of difference. Fox 2.0 reservoirs on the rear and blackmax on the front.

I'm curious, why did you go with two different shocks? Sorry, I didn't read your posts if you explained why. My life is upside down now.

Still need to install the steering shaft riser installed

I got one to install with my BL but I didn't and I haven't noticed a difference or issue with my steering.

I didn't need one on my '97 with a 2" BL.

After wiring in my radio I suddenly lost my trans temp gauge. Was pretty sure it was a ground, but Glowshift actually makes this pretty easy to test. There are exposed contacts on the pigtail that let you backprobe without needing to stick a needle into the wire. The wires on the pigtail is like 28AWG so it's nice they don't make you hack on it to test.

Turns out my gauge ground wire was a ring terminal I had sammiched between the gauge cluster and the dash frame. When I removed the cluster to route my wires I never noticed that my existing ground wire fell away.


And as a Tuesday Follow Up to my new voltmeter purchase. I hate it. I want my old one back. The continuity test is very glitchy. And the kickstand sucks out loud. I literally hate everything about it, and very likely the parents of the guy who designed it, too. Honorable mention to the condom that broke which led us to this very moment.

Some $9 chinese thing off Amazon. My currently-MIA multimeter was also a $9 amazon special but I loved it. Unfortunately it is no longer available. Claude found the same chassis under other brand names, but none on amazon (where I can easily return it if it ain't as advertised).

Or maybe i'll break down and ask for a fancy one for christmas.

See, that wouldn't work around my neck of the woods. Soooo many people think if there's ONE line, it's a parking spot, and we won't discuss the ends of the rows that have the crossed lines....still a spot.
