Mopar Quality?

I thought we are better off with Mopar parts? I question that.
I decided to replace water pump, t stat, upper and lower hoses since I replaced radiator a couple months ago.
I did have a small leak on lower hose so figured do the rest.
Water pump is fine but doesn't seem any different from the autozone one I put on 3 years ago. Both hoses are made in Mexico and the lower hose was too long. Thermostat is stuck so I overheated. I should have just replaced the lower hose for 30 bucks at Napa compared to 77 bucks at Wermopar and called it a day. So now I'm waiting for the engine to cool off so I can put the old thermostat in that was working.

Anyone else have issues with so called Mopar parts ?

I can’t speak to the water pump, but when it comes to the sensors in the radiator, I can tell you that Mopar parts are far superior quality. That’s from personal experience.

Out of desperation I purchased an Autozone water pump 14-15 years ago. Once I got the box opened and looked it over, It looked cheesy enough that I decided to return it and get my $$$ back and take the couple extra days it took for the Mopar to arrive. For mission critical parts like water pumps, radiators, ignition coils, thermostats, ball joints, starter motors, alternators, etc., I'll never again go with a store brand part.

I think store bought is ok as long as it’s a trusted name brand part.

Store bought brand names are fine for mission critical parts, store brands are not.

Thanks Jerry. I went and bought a Napa thermostat and it works fine. Any ideas on why my Mopar t stat was stuck and I overheated since it was brand new?

Thanks Chris. Yea if and when I do need something else I will probably buy Mopar. Some days are better than others.

I’m in the middle. I’ve used some NAPA parts with good results, I put in a temp sensor from them in an emergency and it’s working fine. I also got my water pump, thermostat and some hoses from them. All is well. If I get into oxygen sensors and other vehicle control module type stuff it will be Mopar. Here on Maui it takes longer to get stuff . There are a lot of Jeeps here and Napa has a good stock on hand. If I have time, I order Mopar. I just ordered mirrors for example. All the non Mopar stock type mirrors get iffy reviews.

If I get into oxygen sensors

NTK was the OEM for the TJ's Mopar O2 sensors, you can safely use that brand there. Don't let anyone talk you into Bosch O2 sensors though, they don't work well on our TJs.

Before installing a new thermostat I always throw it in some hot water to make sure it’s working.
There were a few that were duds over the years.
