For me two things are of interest; one is if I can gain anymore room for bigger tires and two is if it is a plastic flare. I think it’s important to have plastic just for off-road purposes. If you hit them they’ll flex and won’t transfer any energy to the tub. If you hit one with a steel or aluminum flare, it’s going to cause damage to your Jeep. I’d rather just replace a flare. That said, I do like the look of MetalCloak, and especially body matched.
2k will get you one lolI'm one of the only people out there that really loves the look of stock fenders. Clearance can be an issue with them, which is why I wish for the life of me that AEV still made a highline kit. It was seriously the perfect kit. Stock appearance, but much more room.
You can still find them from time-to-time, but people want absolutely stupid amounts of money for them, more than I'd ever be willing to pay.

With the hood the kit is worth 3500-4K all day long. The hood alone sells for 2k NIB when one pops up for sale. That's too much for my taste considering there's no hood and I'd still have to have it painted.
For that price it really has to have a hood.
If I were to spend $4k on stock looking hood and fenders, I think I'd rather do the Jeep West style true highline where the factory fenders are raised and the hood is cut. All for free because it's already there. Then spend less than $4k on the body work to make it look clean. The end result is better clearance than AEV.
Following with interest. Once you cut the hood and raise the fenders into their new position, you have an unsightly gap behind the wheel at the bottom of the tub. I've seen sliders added. I'll try to find pics.Following with interest. Once you cut the hood and raise the fenders into their new position, you have an unsightly gap behind the wheel at the bottom of the tub. So, what do you do there?
That's it. The old MudB8 fender mod. He was using the factory flares. Is this the one that @David Kishpaugh and the guys at Jeep West do to the TJs? If so, I don't think I've seen any photos of it in a while. How are they extending the factory flares? Or are they using different flares?

Then it’s basically cutting the hood. I can do that. I already have sliders that come up the tub 6”.I've seen sliders added. I'll try to find pics.
More or less. I remember some bending and fitting of the raised fender to fit around the grill. There really isn't much to the whole thing. Then it’s basically cutting the hood. I can do that. I already have sliders that come up the tub 6”.
