Jeep wave

I noticed about half of guys in jeep will do the wave but every single gal I give the wave to does not do it back nor do they ever give me the wave first. Is this common? I don't even bother waving to them any longer as l feel like an idiot when they do not reciprocate. Just curious, maybe in my area they are not aware of the wave.

Haha... Not to be rude (because this applies to me as well), but they probably think you're a creep.

I say this without any sexism intended, but somehow I want to believe that most females probably just don't get it. It's more of a male camaraderie thing. That's not to say that there aren't any women out there who don't get it, I'm just thinking that the majority wouldn't understand.

Yep... In my mind the woman is probably thinking, "Why did that guy just wave at me?".

Women (good looking ones) are so used to being hit on and chased after, that they are probably dismissing a friendly Jeep wave as a, "Hey sexy, what's up" wave.

Out by me the women seem to wave back at me just as often, theyll even go first sometimes. The only people that I ever experience not waving back are the people who seem like they bought it just as any other suv.. Such a waste!

X2 here too.

Though I've noticed around Denver metro there are more non-wavers. The guys that don't are either:

wearing polo shirts and sunglasses that cost more than I make in a month

and/or

The jeep looks like it just came off the lot two weeks ago and they rinse off every speck of dirt as soon as it comes into contact with the damn thing.

Heck, a gal pulled up next to me today at a stoplight- we were both topless. I gave a wave and noticed her head never even turned. So I called out pleasantly, "Nice jeep."

Nothing...

Which means some people are just assholes

That's because 90% of the people who own those JKUs (maybe even more), only bought them for a cool looking SUV.

Most of the ladies in jeeps I see (most JK's) are looking down. You know what they are looking at.

I pretty much never wave at JK's nowadays since there's a little chance I get a wave back. It's sad. Almost all TJ, YJ, and CJ owners wave so I'm happy with that.

Hey now I was a jku owner for almost a year. Got a wave the moment I drive off the lot and waved back. It was my introduction to the community and I try never to miss an opportunity to wave now.

Around here (Boston) I'd say I get about a 95% hit rate when waving. That drops to 50% if the other driver is female. Maybe ol Yeller intimidates folks? Dunno. Maybe I'm just a creepy old guy Ina TJ. I'm okay with that.

I'm a Jeep gal and I always wave. I don't always wave first anymore to the JK's as they generally never wave back, but I always wave to all of the real jeeps I do find that people are more likely to wave on the weekends around here. I'm just south of Houston. I sometimes wonder if the guys I wave to that don't wave back just don't wave to gals. I'm a Texas Aggie so I like to keep comraderie and traditions alive and well! Keep the wave alive!

OK, I need to weigh in on the jeep wave... I like the wave; I love the camaraderie. And I've found that the drivers of TJs, YJs, and CJs are much more likely to wave. To the point that I wave at them knowing that it's OK if they don't way back, the next one will.
I know that sometimes people get lost in their own thoughts, or they just don't see you.

Now, there are a ton of JKs on the road, they are freaking everywhere. It's hard to have an exclusive wave when you see 30 of them on your way to work everyday, (and it's only a 5 mile drive!) It's not quite as special then.
But I find that If you go 2-3 times without waving at JKs, you'll see someone wave last minute, miss the return wave and then you feel bad... Until the next one passes 30 seconds later .
Unless it's a tricked out JK, when I wave at JKs, it's mainly to see if I can get them to wave back. And in that sense, I guess I'm a little snooty about it. (are you an enthusiast or not?)

And if I'm topless/doorless you might get a whole arm wave out the window. Depends what's on the radio. Man, I love my jeep.

I try to this when I can too. "Look ma! No doors! We have the coolest vehicles!"

Most JKers seem to like the "hand flip on the top of the steering wheel" technique.
