in the spirit of this thread, would it be a sin to put retro Golden Eagle decals on my 97 sport?
Is it a sin to put Rubicon stickers on a non-Rubicon?

It has 4:10 gears and a 4:1 crawl ratio
It has locking differentials

If you want to put stickers on your hood , have at it , but don't go wheeling with the real deal . You will get embarrassed if it's technical.
I'm not a Rubicon snob , I've had 7 Jeep's and only one Rubicon . It's my favorite of all of them .
That being said , there are so many good aftermarket build possibilities, you can go as far as your wallet allows .

Not sure why I keep coming back to this thread. I don't watch horror movies. I turn my head away at accident scenes. I don't watch "epic fail" videos. And yet, I keep pulling up this thread. I don't get it...
Because its meaning less. People are going to do what they do. But it is interesting to see how peoples logic plays into it.
Well as already said, as long as your not hurting anyone go and do what ya want. That being said, personally I feel that decal shouldn't be put on unless that's what it is. I mean, people made these awesome machines and gave them names according to their features rolling off the assembly line. Yeah replacing components with the Rubicon parts makes you think ok now it's a Rubicon. But it never was and it still isnt. That VIN says so. Now as for the Rubicon-ish or any other creative shout-outs to the Rubis in the form of a decal I say go for it. But as for an identical Rubicon decal on something other than an actual Rubicon I just dont get it. Why? Trying to make people think it's something greater than it is?

So according to your logic , the jeep should have the "Sport" decal should not be on the Jeep because it has all the Rubicon parts on it !

We all change our Jeeps from factory. I have a Dana 44 I’m putting in my X. The X didn’t even come with that as an option. Will it still be an X when I put it in? P.s. I already removed my X decals.
True story: A guy at work went through the whole sex change thing. He then took up with another guy who also went through a sex change to become a woman. I'll not make any statements or judgements, but simply pose this question: Are they now considered lesbians? And I'm asking this in complete seriousness. That question has been kicking around where I work for years. The individual relocated to California, and no longer works for us, but he...she...sure shook things up while they were employed with us. One of the stranger things in my 35 years working there...Food for thought...
