2020 Jeep Gladiator Launch Edition Sells Out In One Day

Haha, well that alone speaks volumes.

If anyone can afford to live even in a condo in the Bay Area, chances are they have way more money than the rest of us mere mortals. ;)

I have no doubt you'll see Gladiators off-road. But if you compare the number of them you see off-road to the number of them you see on-road, I'll bet it's probably a 500 to 1 ratio or something.

One thing is for sure though, with as long as the Gladiator is, it's not going to be getting into the stuff you can get into with a Wrangler, that's for sure.
If it gets into it, it's not going to be able to get out of it!

Jeep played it smart...the first buyers will pay anything to get something that’s never been available...so the high end was brought out first.

Expectedly ., it’s a hit . The sharp taper in sales units will go something like this - my numbers are imaginary, but the sales arc will be-

First models - spike

Then flat on those

Then the 35-40k range hits dealers -spike again

Then steady a few months but steps down sharply after

Then we will really see how it’s going to fare .

IMO, reporting those numbers doesnt paint the whole picture. It doesnt provide context. for example, if the Gladiator monthly sales numbers are 'low," one could assume the truck is a miss/fail. But what if those number look, "low," but are higher than the other 4x4 mid size trucks with crew cabs monthly sales numbers? Then its a win...

Will you also be considering comparing the Jeep Gladiator sales numbers to the other mid size trucks on the market?

Like the monthly sales of the Ranger crew cab 4x4 , Tacoma crew cab 4x4, and the Chevy Colorado crew cab 4x4.

It would be interesting to see the current monthly sales of the Toyota, Ford, and Chevy before the Gladiator hits the market and then their monthly sales numbers once the Gladiator does hit the dealership's lots. This, IMO, is more telling of what the Jeep Gladiator's future holds. Am I wrong?

All those trucks have a following...the gladiator will just slice the pie at best. It’s going to be interesting.

The Tacoma sold nearly 250,000 units last year . Way more that the 4 door wrangler and every mid sized truck.

The Gladiator likely won’t sell that many in 3-5 years.

For starters, Toyota has legendary quality.

The Gladiator is a neat concept , but it won’t be the smash hit Fiat says .

There is a feed on the right that sorta shows who is posting and in what thread. There is a whole bunch of you on a whole bunch of this. So what's the deal with you and the Gladiator? I'm probably closer to it than most since Savvy built and raced one and even I don't care as much as you seem to.

You did overlook one tiny thing though, Toyota used to have legendary quality. Jeep has never stopped being legendary. I do not however, know what that is worth when it comes to selling trucks.

@AndyG , in a nutshell, really wants us to know he doesnt think the Jeep Gladiator will be all that it’s been hyped to be. He of course is right to his opinion. I for one, hope he is wrong, not in a malicious vengeful way. I hope it does well for Jeep, I like Jeep and where they have taken the Wrangler.

Maybe the folks at “Fiat” will allow some Jeep engineers do what the SRT folks do for the Challenger, the charger, and the Cherokee but for Off Road guys. Go crazy and build something groundbreaking like the Hellcat, the Demon, and the Demon Red Eye is/was.

The sport S is very intriguing with the 4.10s and dana 44 front and rear. I think he is trying to be loyal to the TJ and looking for others to follow his stance on this and nobody is lol. It’s gonna sell in droves, and definitely has a place in the midsize market.

I love anything that looks like a Jeep.

The media , and Fiat have portrayed it as the next big thing , the do all answer..and maybe it is .

I think it’s overhyped , unique to the point it reaches less buyers , and won’t sell in millions of units.

Isn't it just exactly that, the next big thing in the Jeep line-up?

When it comes out just go to your local dealer and test drive it. Give your opinion then after getting your hands on one.
I have no negative opinion now ...I just don’t think it’s going to turn the mid size truck category on it’s head . It’s not going to do to that category what the 4door did in the SUV class.

I have a 4Runner. I have a TJ. The toy. I just sold my F350 as I don’t need a 1 ton diesel anymore. I like driving smaller trucks.

I don’t have a use for the JL.....but a JT has my attention. The Tacoma, Ranger and Colorado were in the running.

The Tacoma’s reliability and drive ability went down hill with gen 3. The Ranger is new/old design and doesn’t blow me away.

Colorado had me almost with a nice ZR2...and with rebates makes it pretty attractive. But resale sucks.

So the JT enters, filling a role the others can’t in many ways.

I’m their target.

It may hit the nail on the head , there has never been anything quite like it .

In my mind it seems so unique it's will have a limited audience , but you never really know til something really hits the market .

As Mr. Blaine said a while back, none of us have a perfect crystal ball.

Well, that's not quite accurate. I do have a perfect crystal ball. A couple or more in fact. I just really suck at reading them, but perfect they are. One of them weighs about 20 lbs.
