What mods should I do before getting larger tires (if any)?

I'm hoping to squeeze a 31"×10.50" tire with a 1.25" spacer on my stock 15"aluminum rims on stock suspension which I'm fairly sure can be done as I've found a thread covering that topic. I want to know if there are any "prep" mods I SHOULD do before putting those greasy hogs on. Things such as stock diffs, bearings, bushings, etc That might need to be replaced with a stronger component to allow me to do so.

I'm no good with I dentifying diffs or transmissions but I can tell you it's an 03 sport with a 5 speed manual, 4.0, and no diff locks if that helps at all. If potential wear is an issue it's still fairly mint under 60k all factory parts BUT it was what I learned manual on so...

You shouldn't need to do much of anything drastic to fit 31's. I ran 31's just fine on my stock rims, no wheel spacer needed. I did have to adjust the steering stops on the knuckles to keep the tire from rubbing the front lower control arms. You may or may not need to add a bumpstop spacer if your tire rubs the fender while flexing offroad, but on road it won't be a problem. I don't know what gears you have, but you may have a feeling of a slight loss of "power" since the motor will have to work a little harder to turn bigger tires.

And all that was covered in the thread I mentioned. I just want the spacers so I can get a wider, more stable track width. I've rolled her once in soft snow with no damage, don't want to try my luck again. Good to know i just need to find the tires and not have to worry about putting in new Diffs

Yep nothing needed except the tires (and maybe adjust the steering stops). I ran 31's for years before I moved to my monster 32's.

The wheel spacer will most likely put the tire in the fender under flex so you may need to change the bump stops.
