This may have been a thread but I can't find one...

How many of you bought your Jeep new and are still using it as a daily driver?
I bought mine is March of 2006, thinking that it's a long time but it is the last year of the TJ...

My family bought mine new in 2001. Has technically been used as a daily driver since then. It has 230,000 miles, but I don't drive it that much anymore. It has become a bit too finicky to really use it as a dead reliable vehicle.

Definitely didnt buy it new, but only had 69k miles has been a daily driver for 5 years now. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across country if needed. Its seen several 1k mile weekend road trips.

Says the guy who drives his Jeep hallway across the country and back. :)

Yeah, that wasn't exactly great for it. It has been in rough shape for the last couple weeks. Doesn't like to start too well anymore, front axle seals are pouring, reverse lights don't work, speedometer doesn't work, and smoke randomly comes through the heater vents.

It made it, but barely.

Tighten the nut on your output yoke for the speedo. Easy peasy!

I’m hopefully going to get some work done on it this Friday. Starting school, moving apartments, and flying back and forth to New York have stopped me from fixing anything.

Oil change, filter, savvy engine skid, refilling the front diff, and tightening the yoke should make it quite a bit happier.

I bought mine to be a daily driver. It's an ~12 mile round trip to work and back so it's not worth having another car. I put 70,000 miles on my last car in 10 years. And that includes a couple thousand mile trip to Kentucky for Bourbon tasting, several 1000 mile round trips here and there, and the 200 or 350 mile round trips to visit family in the state.

I expect to put fewer miles on this just because I'm not driving my kids around to their activities anymore.

Bought mine a little over a year ago to be a fun weekend toy but I enjoy driving it so much I take it to work a couple times a week as well.

Definitely, 24K miles a year, a third of that towing my tools.
240,000 miles on it today.

Purchased mine in Feb, and have been driving daily whenever it isn't on jacks in the driveway. Coming from a Mini Cooper, this thing is a whole different kind of fun and doesn't feel like a toy. I'll sell the Mini soon and let the TJ be my one and only (aside from my motorcycle)

My story is weirdly identical to yours. 2008 R56, 2002 GL1800 (101k miles) and 2005 Rubicon.

Wrenching on German cars makes me say bad words

I bought mine as a weekend toy, but love driving it so much that the only times I don't drive it are when I need my pickup, and long trips with wife in her car.

Only when there is more then 2 people involved do we take the wife's car. I pulled the back seat out of my LJ the 3rd day I had it. I have 110k on it now and will drive it till I drop over.
Pretty much the same here. Except that removing the back seat was the THIRD thing I did on the first day.
Bought him at 126,000, have about 147,000 now.
I told my wife that it's the last vehicle I will ever buy.

I bought mine used also. I bought it in Jan of 2019 and have been driving everyday ever since. I don't have to drive it as a daily, I just like to! :D
