Should I get a 6 inch lift or 4 inch lift with 1 inch body lift?

I'm building my 2001 TJ and I have already geared it to 4.88 with heavy duty axles, front and rear arb lockers and now it's the fun part of lifting it and going to 35's. I want to make sure its lifted properly so I don't have any regrets. Any advice I go back and forth from a 6 inch to a 4 inch suspension with a 1 inch body lift what is the best and why

What are your thoughts on raised skids and making the most use of the travel allowed by the short rear driveshaft?

I agree on 4” springs, I had a friend do 6” springs and another did 4” springs 1” body and a 1” coil spacer. On sidehills the 6” springs would lean more. Even when the 4” spring jeep ran 38’s it always looked and felt more stable. The friend that had the 6” springs would always say he wish he only had 4” springs. He was also only running 35’s and it looked good, but not quite right

Sounds like a shock and sway bar issue more than lift height. Was this on stock axles?

At the time, both ran bilstein shocks, and, sway bars..... what is this sway bar thing you speak of?? Lol they both at the time weren’t running any up front and whatever their lift kits came with out back

a quality 4" suspension lift (with the best shocks you can afford) and a 1.25" aluminum body lift

great info guys I think I will go with a 4 inch teraflex short arm and with a 4 inch suspension lift I still need a SYE and CV driveshaft right

My first lift was a 4” teraflex short arm, (old style) I liked it, if ya stay on top of greasing the arms they’ll last a long time. I ran it for about 6 years and ran it pretty hard with no problems. When I switched to a long arm setup I pulled the arms apart, gave them a once over, replaced 2 bushings and I think a friend of mine ran them for another 6 years. I still run the springs since I really liked the ride. There getting old now (16 years old) though so I may have to get some new springs within the next year or so

From what I can gather Teraflex makes a quality product. I also have looked at the Currie Jonny joint suspension lift too. I'm just not sure it's worth the extra money for the Currie kit

My 4" Currie rides like it did stock and handles great off road. I also added a 1" BL and running 35's

If you want the best and have no regrets as you stated in your OP, then rethink terraflex
