Alex01 Silver Sport Build Thread

Love that! Can you reveal your material list?
All sourced from home depot:
1 sheet of 3/4 (I believe birch) plywood (cut down to approximately 56" / 28" ~ $55
Indoor-outdoor carpet ~ $16
6 small d-rings ~ $12
Misc bolts for D-rings ~ $8
Carpet glue ~ $5

Around $100 bucks once you throw in tax.

I anchored it to the tub using bolts I found in the leftover Jeep parts box I have. I pulled the rubber plugs on the wheel wells and anchored it down through those so I didn't need to drill new holes. It can easily hold my weight.

They will with additional brackets sold by UCF. That was actually the selling point that pushed me to UCF over Savvy.

Ah awesome, I ordered the Savvy Probably would have gone with these had I known they take uppers, that’s cool.

Excited to see them on your Jeep!

Just finished putting them on.

I'm guessing as the paint cures it will match better. At least that was the case with the fenders.

On the the jks rear track bar and mount now.

I used "era paints" oem matched paint. They sell it off ebay and their own website. They are based out of Oregon so shipping is quite fast.

Neat thanks, I suppose that could be an option for my slider backers...

Have to call some local places and get some quotes and decide.

When I inquired locally about my sliders a month ago my quote was $300 for powder coat. The shades they had were far from body color tho so I just kept them the way they are. @tomtaylz had the same savvy sliders pc'ed so he would probably be able to give you a ball park range.

Definitely love the half doors!
Thanks chris. I really like the look also. I can't wait to use them on the trail.

The only thing I didn't like about the half doors is they didn't come with a leash like the oem doors that would stop them from swinging all the way open and hitting the fender.

I figured one day I'll either smash the fender or my wife/children will so I fabricated a small bracket that attaches to the hinge bolts. Then used my "expert" craft skills from my days at summer camp to create my own.

I think it was somewhere around 300. They sandblasted them before to get the PC to stick properly to the aluminum.

Awesome jeep! When are you going to outboard the rear?
Thank you.

At the moment I don't plan on outboarding the rear. Mainly because I don't have the tools required at my house to complete the job. Perhaps in the future, if I buy a welder and learn to use it I would attempt it. For the fronts, I did 95% of the prep work then towed it a few hours to have the towers welded on/final fitment. (thanks again Jim) I wouldn't feel comfortable using that approach with the rear since it would require a chuck of the frame to be cut out.

My plan currently is to keep it as is since it has proven to be able to tackle anything I've pointed it at.

I wouldn't be comfortable attempting an outboard either. There is a lot more to it than just knowing how to weld.
Exactly. The margin of error is much lower on the rear. If I was to do it again I would likely just go with the MC 6pak F/R.

After this last run, an LJ build is looking pretty tempting. With the 4 of us and the dog in the jeep, the extra trunk space would have been nice. Maybe in the next few years, I'll find a decently priced LJ and start swapping over parts. Or just bring fewer people along :ROFLMAO:
