Double DIN Android Head Unit (InsaneAudio TJ1001) Chinese Knock-Off Review

Any luck with getting the sub to work? I just installed mine as well with no sound going to the sub.
I read somewhere the polarity of the speakers was wrong somehow and that was causing the sub not to work, I wish I could find where. I'd try with mine but it was DOA and I returned it so I'm back to stock for now.

I was unsuccessful at making it work, but in all honesty, I didn't spend much time or effort on it. I ended up going with the Ordnance subwoofer (see below). I used the two RCA radio (rear speakers) output and connected them to the Ordnance. I love this setup! Sound is much, much improved! I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Anybody reading about this in the future the harness provided on the radio people were having trouble with is actually not wired correctly for a 2004 that's why the sub isn't working. The polarity of the front left and rear right are reversed. To make the factory sub work you need to switch pins C2/C3 and also C13/C14. After this swap it'll work fine. The speaker polarity from the ground side needs to go + - - + and not - + - +.

For those that are using an external sub with the factory speakers powered by the deck you still might consider the swap. The speakers would be out of phase.

Will give this a shot.

Thank you.

Here is a pic of my Chinese Headunit. Sorry about the reflection. Its an amazing piece of kit and cheap. The navigation system runs both Street maps and Topo maps without an internet connection. The Home screen is completely configurable any way you want it. The only time you need a internet connection is to download any apps.

Anyone install this head unit with a amp? Do you experience any whines?

Had a friend who installed one of these on his JK and the alternator whine is unsolvable.

This is the android one off of amazon?

From Aliexpress only $54 but on Amazon $102. same unit. "Go Figure!!!"

I've purchase 1000s of items off Aliexpress for business and personal use. Sure there have been some bad products but if I felt strongly enough about a bad product I've ALWAYS got my money refunded and in most cases never had to send the faulty goods back.
The only downside is that the free shipping is sometimes slow (4-5 weeks) and sometimes fast (5-7 days) you never know. To make matters worse the tracking information provided is unreliable. Never had an item not eventually show up.

So, uhm, I ordered a Chinese knockoff stereo for the LJ. There is nothing else like it on the market. The closest thing is the InsaneAudio TJ1001... but I'd argue that the Chinese knockoff is better. It runs Android... I wish it ran iOS but that'll never happen.

You can get it here:

Since it runs android, I've installed Pandora, Netflix, Google Maps, and Plex!

It's freakin amazing. Looks stock too.
What about midde speaker's will it work?

That looks sort of similar to the Android 4.4 unit I put in my '05 (which I believe is also what @badlieutenant has). However, that one is Android 9, does not appear to have a CD/DVD slot, and is about $100 less than what I paid. The button layout looks similar to the WinCE models (which should be avoided IMO), but nothing there suggests anything other than Android. If you don't need a disc slot, the newer Android version would be an improvement.

I have that same Xtrons unit in my 2005 TJ and really like it. Install was ultra simple. It doesn’t have a CD drive, but I loaded all my music onto a SD card. A couple things that I did to improve functionality. I got a different launcher called Car Launcher and ended up buying the pro version for $3. Also using a music app called Musicolet that browse the folders a bit better. Also downloaded a big radius of Google Maps to the local storage and it was only about 750MB so now I don’t need Internet and I can still use GPS in my area. Had this for a few months now and really enjoying it.

did you do what pagrey suggested to get the sub to work?

I've been thinking about buying a double din center console stack and putting in a screen for a long time but could never decide on one. This thread sealed the deal. I like the 1.5 din that keeps the rounded corners and the combo of tactile buttons with the screen.

I just ordered this one, same link as above but the info is a bit different now, it's Android 10.
Android 10.0 5" Car GPS Radio Stereo 2GB+16GB

And two of these cameras, one for the grill and one for my spare mounted license plate frame
RAAYOO 170 Degree Wide Angle 2-in-1 Universal Car Camera

I'll still be running my powered 300 watt sub, fits behind the seat and easily and quickly removable
Rockford Fosgate P300-10

Considering replacing the speakers or not, but honestly the stock 7 speaker setup is pretty decent minus that center console sub. I already have new 300 watt amp from another project just collecting dust

Yes. Switching these cables is a must for those of us whose subwoofer doesn't work. I, however, only had to switch C2 and C3. The other two were right in my harness. Thanks for this!

Thank You for posting this! I assumed that mine was wired correctly but when my Factory Sub didn't work I used a small screwdriver and switched the pins.
