Opinions on Grab Bars

Hey guy's, this is a serious post, unlike my seat cover post. LOL I am wanting to get a set of grab bars. I just don't know what set to get? I found this set on Extremeterrain, but they are 86 bucks. I like the purple handles and they would go with my Jeep.

Thing is, I found grab bars on Amazon for a lot cheaper. I could get a set there, and buy the purple grips and still be under the 86 plus tax. Question is, are they any good?

Has anyone bought the set that I linked from Amazon? The reviews seem to say they are strong, but I did see that one person that posted pics had ones that said "Wildboar" on them. This has got me worried because of reading some complaints on here about those style.

Would it be best to just bite the bullet and buy the 86 dollar ones from ET?

IMHO, the Synergy are the sturdiest because they attach at both ends and the best looking.

I just don't trust those other styles holding much weight with only 2 bolts securing them. The ones I posted I think would support a 400 pounds person hanging from them.

I have the name brand Grabars and they are very sturdy. I may have bought a cheaper set but did not find any when I was shopping about a year and a half ago. Someone on this forum has posted video of the attachment plate on the cheap ones being very flimsy and easily bent.

I went ahead and got the cheaper ones from Amazon. I got a set that didn't say Wild Boar on them. All the reviews said they were really sturdy. Here's hoping they are. If not, I will simply send them back. I also ordered the purple grips from ET. The nice thing is I had about 13 bucks in points on Amazon so my bars came to about 16 bucks. So if they are as good as they say they are, I should be golden.

I do like those, but just didn't want to spend that much. I was having a hard time on deciding to spend the 86 bucks for the ET ones. I may look into those if my cheap ones I just ordered don't work out.

The Chinese knockoffs of the Grabbar handles have been around for years under various names - Wild Boar, Opar, etc.

I have a set of "Opar" grab handles, purchased from Amazon in 2017, which look identical to the Grabbar brand but for less than one-half the price.

The knockoffs in the Amazon links show attachment plates that differ slightly from the Grabbar brand and what I have, which appear to be thinner steel and perhaps the source of some comments about bending. However, I would have no concern about the two attachment bolts being capable of supporting the weight of a human being, even a very large one.

Yep, you'll be fine. I've seen enough of them to know that they're all coming from the same factory, people are just stamping different names on them and calling them their own "brand". Either way, you'll be happy, they are very sturdy, and that's coming from someone who uses them often!

I have a the $20 set, and it holds my fat ass just fine. I'm about 275, and they've never felt the least bit unstable.

X2, I'm 250 and mine work just fine. $20.

Bought mine off ebay last year. Ebay Link Never regretted it one bit. I'm 260 and they are solid. No worries about them. I'd recommend them over the lesser priced alternatives out there. Seen too many mentions of issues.

I have a set of GraBar ones. Im currently 345, at my heaviest I was 425. They are rock solid with me hanging all my weight on them.

There were some offbrand ones being sold on Amazon that would flex like crazy. If you worked it back and forth it would surely have broken free from the poor welds.

I went with grabars. They are rock solid, they're used all the time

Ok, my Amazon off brand grab bars came in and I got them installed today.

They seem pretty strong to me. I really like them. It makes it so much easier to position my butt in the seat. LOL The Jeep is stock height but I still like how much easier it makes it to get in.

Now to just wait on the purple grips for them.

I have the name brand Grabars. Solid steel and American made. It's been pointed out on other forums. Those Chinese knockoffs look like they were welded by a twelve year old.
