Advice Needed on 31's and Coil Spring Spacers

Finally had a chance to clean her up and snap a quick pic with her new shoes on in-between the sun and this shitty-ass snow!
Also, I think that it's time to start looking at adding a small lift. However, I do like the look without the added height so far. Anybody have pics of their baby on 31's with a small lift?

Nice! How is installing a kit like that if I wanted to do it myself? Fairly easy? It looks like it should be somewhat straight forward.

I installed the same kit on my LJ. Do your research, ask lots of questions, get a buddy & a six-pack and you'll have it knocked out in a day.
If you've never done it before (suspension I mean), it's not going to be the easiest. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, I would rate it about a 5. I've done it so many times, on so many different vehicles, it's like second nature to me.
My advice would be to have someone present who has done it before so they can help out and oversee things.
And just for the records, that lift and those size tires is where I wish I had left my TJ. If I had to build it all over again, I'd leave it just like it was in those photos. The whole oversize tires and monster lift thing is something I've outgrown.
Mine on 31's with a 2.5" lift. Never should have changed it.

You guys are killing me with those photos! I'd love to get a more aggressive set of tires for my Rubicon, and now you've got me seriously considering going back to the stock 245/75-16 size with the OME lift I currently have. Not only do you gain more room in the wheel well, which really looks good, there is a bit more performance gain, if only a bit. The way mine sits, there just doesn't seem like quite enough room for 32" tires, and I have no desire for a body lift or more suspension height.

That would look awesome with a 1.25" body lift. Easy to do with common hand tools and 2 hours of time.
These are amazing pics to have all on the same page. You can see the slight differences between 2.5", 1.75" and 1.5". They all look awesome, but I didn't think I'd be able to tell any difference, but you can! Not sure which one I like the best! I'd say the 2.5" OME is the best lift and ultimately what I'm going for...that, or a 1" body lift and 1" MM to get me to 2.75". Afraid to go to 3" because of changes I would have to make to keep everything in line...Another nice TJ StG58!
I'm telling you man... A 2.5" OME lift and some aggressive 31" tires (i.e. Duratracs or similar) is the perfect look for a TJ, and still highly capable as well.
The older I get, the more I appreciate a TJ that's just mildly done up, instead of the over the top ones we see all the time. Not that there's anything wrong with the latter, it just grows old after a while (IMHO).
The nice thing about the 2.5" OME lift is that with that lift you don't need to worry about adjustable control arms, pinion angles, etc. It's pretty much bolt-on and go. You MAY need a TC drop or a SYE and CV driveshaft, but that would be it really.
You can fit 31" or 32" tires and be set. With anything over 3" you'll need to throw a lot more money at it to do it right.
I installed a 2" spring lift using Pro Comp springs, which are really good springs and only $90 a pair, some Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks, a 1.25" body lift and a 1" MML and it's PERFECT. No TC drop, no SYE, no CV driveshaft, and best of all NO vibes. I installed 32X11.50 R15 tires (33's would have fit too, but I didn't want to regear the 3.73's). I think this is a really good setup for a hybrid DD/offroad TJ.
There seems to be a whole slew of folks on here that are running low lift TJ's on 31's or 32's and doing well on and off road with them.
Makes sense though. Instead of spending a grip o' cash on suspension and what-not, you can put money into things that really make a difference like lockers / selectable lockers, axle shafts, gears and things like that. The money you save just on the price difference between a set of 31" tires and 33" tires (5) could put a lot of useful items on the TJ.
