I keep finding different answers. I read something from rancho that only mono tubes can be run upside down. The 5000x is a twin tube gas shock. But it seems like people do it. Can they be run can up?

Yes they can, but I personally prefer to run them how the manufacture specifies. If I may ask, why do you want to invert them? Rear because of the rotated pinion?
Yeah exactly. Except will this even actually help? Because the can will still probably hit the perch at full bump anyways right?
The flip won’t solve what the real issue is. The way to fix it is cycle the suspension with the shock on and cut the bottom spring perch where it hits. The second best option is to reweld the shock mount where it doesn’t contact. The third best option is to buy a shock relocation bracket from someone like Currie. I’ll attach a picture of the notch needed.
I wonder how much rotating the pinion will extend my shocks. If it extends it more than an inch I might as well extend the upper mount up another inch with a bracket and run the next shock size up.
I can't locate it right now but somewhere on this forum this is a response from Rancho as to why they cannot be run upside down.
