What did you do to your TJ today?

Thanks man. Always clutch.

I was running a search and found a few with the suction cup, which I will replace with a magnet and some epoxy.

I then fell into the big rabbit hole of LED off-road lights as I was working on Rugged Ridge units, which new to me and work perfectly. The pods are on the A pillar and after I got them aimed and sitting right they are bright!!!!!

I replaced the PIAA units that were there from the Previous owner. Lights worked once I fixed the cabling, but they are big and I like the less intrusive view the 3" pods provide, but those 6" lights were bright!!!

Just ordered a loop for the bumper to get the rest of the floods mounted correctly and still leave space in case I get a winch before the fall. Sure will be a bright front end when I'm done. Have stock looking switches for the panel in the cabin and all the wiring to make my loom. Will have a set for running as daytime driving lights and another one as brighter lower fogs for when the weather gets funky around here. Maybe get the LED headlights sooner. Who knows. COVID lockdowns are still in effect here but some parks have opened up where I can take the little one fishing at least.

Will run amber plastic covers on the A pillar units, and yellow LaminX on the bumper units. Westchester county NY folks can be a little touchy with big wheeled Jeeps and too many lights up front. This way, if I need white spotters I can slip off the covers and use them as such.

Put down my windshield to clean the seals and check for rust. I sprayed fluid film inside the windshield frame and wiped down the outside bottom with crc marine rust inhibitor. It's basically spray on cosmoline. Its superior to fluid film in every way except 1: it will shrivel your balls.View attachment 166061

I also installed some knock off grabars. They are straight up dogshit word to your mother.

The handle rubber is squishy and low quality. The driver side seems relatively sturdy, but the passenger side bends easily at the mounting plate. The steel is much softer. Typical made in China.

It came with longer bolts, but they are soooooo fuckin made in china. I just went ahead and reused the factory bolts. I'm sorry, I meant to say torx head machine screws. They seem to fully engage the female threads so it should be good?View attachment 166063

Should have got the grabars.
GraBars reuse the factory fasteners.

All I did today was look for my radio problem. I have had 2 radios just up and quit. My newest one is just a cheap Walmart special and yesterday when I went to the parts store, I was making a 3 point turn to be able to back into the parking spot. Out of the blue, the radio turned of and reset itself to like it is when first hooked up. I had to reprogram everything. I think my dash cam turned off and back on too.

I was thinking maybe a loose wire somewhere. I checked all the wires that I hooked up and also replaced one that was the push together type (seen in pic). It doesn't go to the radio, it goes to the dash cam and the other wired I have connected with the blue connecter goes to my power port. After all that, I also wiggled the wires here and there and couldn't get the radio to turn off so I put it back together. I'm beginning to think that the problem is possibly in the factory wiring. I figure if it does it again, I will run new wiring to the speakers and also to the fuse panel and do away with the factory wires. Maybe that will solve the problem. ??

And this is the reason I didn't want to attach my dash storage box thing with the 3M tape that comes on it. LOL It needs to come off in order to get the screws holding the center console on. :D

Check the ground straps on the firewall. Also while you have the dash apart check the ground straps on each side of the defrost plenum.

It's very unlikely that your speaker wiring would have anything to do with a power loss. Even if they shorted out, the most/worst that would happen is that it would fry the amp in your radio. Much more likely to be a bad connection.
Since you're experienced this during a three-point-turn, I'd poke around under the driver's side dash to see if there is anything hanging around near the steering shaft or any of the pedals.

I checked all the wires that I hooked to the factory loom. I don't know for sure where the factory loom goes once it disappears into the dash, so that is why I suspected that being the possible issue. I do have my amp tied up to the column, not the piece that turns of course. The only thing hooked to the amp that goes to the radio is the RCA jacks and the remote wire. Not sure if the amp could affect the radio or not though? The amp's hot and ground wires are separate from the radio.

My first radio just quit playing when I was driving down the road. It had a few lights that remained on, but that was it. The second radio just didn't turn on one day. I was thinking the starting issue may have something to do with things because I have to turn the key off and on a few times or turn it over a couple times, then turn it off and restart it. So the radio is going off and on when I do this. But now with the turning and the radio just rebooting from scratch, I'm at a loss.

I'll check the grounds and also check for anything else under the driver side. I just had the panel off looking at the amp today but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I'll recheck. :D

Ok, if you also have a starting problem check over your battery cables. Specifically the ends and where the cable insulation starts. Look for any green corrosion where the insulation starts. If there's any corrosion replace your cables.

No, the starting problem is because of the famous fuel check valve thing that allows the fuel to drain back. I have to turn the key on and off a few times to get the fuel pumped back up.

OK, the rule of thumb is, if it isn't the power wires, the radio wiring would be really unlikely to cause a power failure/interruption/reset without smoking something in the radio. No output of the radio is going to be able to supply anywhere near that kind of current.
So I'm just trying to connect dots here but it sure sounds like you've had more than your share of radio fatalities. Please tell us what setup you have for radio/head unit, amps(s), speakers so we can get a mental picture upon which to base further guesses...uhm...scientific hypothesis.

Not today but over the last 2 weeks....
Upper/lower ball joints, wheel bearings, tire rod ends, front breaks, break lines & calipers.
(yea, lines too, they picked a convieniant time to colapse on the inside <after i put it back together>) and finally,
5 New tires BFG KO2 265 70 17 (I still like the original KO's in the profile pic) the wheels came from last years lift kit project, Quadratec Moab.
