For those thinking the group might be getting to large and cumbersome, remember any and all participation is completely by choice, each person can be as involved as they wish. The main focus for many of us never having been to Moab is the ability to do many trails and pretty much have a wheeling partner to run with.

Well said. I'll likely be in a smaller group most of the time with the exception of a forum run.

And always remember that reality often sets in shortly before the trip begins.

During the last holiday season I was part of a group overlanding in Mexico. Up to a month before the trip there were 15 rigs signed up as "absolutely, positively" attending. They swore they were coming even when told that they would be charged for accommodations if reservations were confirmed and they didn't show up.

Four rigs actually made the trip. One guy showed up a day late. Two guys left four days early. Only two of us spent the entire month as originally planned.

I'm glad @Alex01 posted this because it is so true:

I'm a novice anyways. I'll be hanging out with those guys doing the easier wheeling spots, at least at first. I've also never been to Moab, so I don't want to just jump right in.

I'd be happy has hell if 100 TJs showed up. Just imagine all those TJs in one spot. That would actually be very cool.

Hell, it might show some of the aftermarket that there is still a market for TJs ;)

My guess is 30-40 show.

As long as I'm following someone who has done those runs before :)

Fins n Things is a good novice trail And you could do it as a single vehicle to get your feet wet, no spotter needed either.

@Chris

This is Fins 'n Things. There is really only one section of "white knuckler" on this trail (the photo isn't it) and that isn't really difficult and has a bypass.

Looks like it's mostly smoother rock, yes?

There's nothing slick about slickrock.

It's like driving on sandpaper. You will be amazed at the grip.

This is somewhere on the Hell's Revenge trail:

But not everything is slickrock. This is on the Elephant Hill trail in 2017 the month before I purchased my current jeep:
