What did you do to your TJ today?

Used a bottle of Purple Power on my mud stained tires at the carwash to try to clean them. I think about half of it dripped off.

How do you like those DC extreme country tires? I had those on my XJ and really liked them.
I have to be honest...I am so new to this. I would not even know the difference. If you want to talk motorcycles no problem. I still have to go buy tools tonight just to put the bumper on.....lol......Im learning as I go. So far I love this whole jeep thing.

Doesn't it mount like stock with the six T-55 torx bolts? Enjoy it. I'm on Jeep #19 now and broke. It's still fun!

Project "Rub It With A Diaper" continues...

Removed, cleaned, and restored the license plate holder from faded gray to black with Solution Finish.

Removed tail light guards for repaint.

Removed the tail lights and guards to find the light and guard stuck together via adhesive gasket, pulled them apart and now have a super sticky mess to deal with before I can paint the guards. Rubbing alcohol isn't touching it. It appears that a rocket surgeon PO put the foam gasket that came with the metal tail light guards between the guard and the tail light instead of the metal guard and the Jeep. They have to go back on because they have marred the paint from not having the gaskets in the right place. Going to get a sheet of black EVA foam and 3M Super 77 it to the back of the guard and trim it to fit, I guess.

Cleaned all the crud that was under the spare tire mount and tail lights.

Got a couple of web velcro straps in the mail today to temporarily keep the soft top folded and together when I remove completely and install the bikini top. I've never had the soft top 100% off, and I've never even folded the new soft top back before after install. I think it's time!

I need to give the Jeep a quick wash so the top and windows are clean for storage tomorrow. Dreading it because of heat, humidity, and mosquitoes. It feels like soup today.

I am no mechanic....but I try like hell.......just a little simple to make it look a little bit cleaner looking

Mine is rocking that look right now while I try to decide on a replacement bumper. Which RC bumper did you go with?

Try Naptha (lighter fluid). It works well to remove adhesive residue.

Try this to put on the back of your tail light guards. Self adhesive may be quicker and easier to use. They have several sizes to choose from. I've used it on several things and it works well.

This falls more under the heading of "What I wanted to do to my LJ today but couldn't". I had an appointment to get my long-awaited front ARB locker and chromoly axles installed. Went to open the garage door and BANG! the spring broke. Door is now stuck in the down position with both my LJ and my wife's CRV inside. Tried everything I could think of to jack up the door, no joy. Called the "24 hour emergency service" number for the garage door company, they said they would get there sometime today. Called the shop, they rescheduled me for - wait for it - July 22. Two weeks longer than my original wait time. 🤬 To be fair, this shop is always busy, because their gear guy is a wizard. Three service bays, always full. Oh well, it's all paid for, just need to be patient. Oh, and get the garage door repaired...

Greased the windshield wiper train and cleared the cowl drain and repainted the wiper arms. Checked for rust and such. Looks pretty clean and no rust under the cover.

Swapped the other one of the two Polk speakers for the Kicker CSC5 and balanced the speakers for a more forward bias.

Cleaned up the wiring in the engine bay prepping for the winch wiring.

Well, unexpected work on the LJ. Started fine at work but something weird going on. Died and speedo pegged three times, whenever I’d stop on my way home it’d die and the speedo would change erratically. Made it home, only a mile and a half away.

Since I just installed the rubicrawler I thought maybe it’s the speedo connections on the transfer case, no dice, good and tight. Then checked my speedo healer and it did nothing when pressing the buttons.

Disconnected the speedo healer and the Jeep runs fine. The exhaust was too hot to screw with it but I’ll have to pull the healer out and see if I pinched or damaged the wire while jacking the transmission up for my savvy cross member.

I’m fine without a speedo for a while, Moab is only a touch over a week away. Tomorrow I’m off work so I hope to get the hydro assist in.

Detail cleaned the interior plastics and nooks and crannys throughout the jeep tonight. its been a work in progress until dark all week after work. Tomorrow ill be wrapping up the interior with the protectant/gloss/shine treatment and my interior should look like new again.

interior cleaning started with vacuuming which turned into pulling the carpet and vacuuming... which lead to a cloth and some soap water wipe down for all the accessible areas within the tub then cleaning wipes... i fell into the cleaning rabbit hole.

looking at picking up a small portable steam cleaner to do all the fabrics next.

Cerwin Vega!!!!! Blast from the past! The Ohms too!

Got some Teledyne Ar9's there too, all hand me downs. The Vegas are a little big for my place, but i couldn't turn them down. one day ill get to turn them up. dads changed around his stereo a few times and hes currently running Klipsch LaScalas with a mini tube amp, feeding the speakers maybe 2 or 3 watts of power at most. They jam loud and clear too. He had found the LaScalas up around traverse city on craigslist and made 2 trips to bring them home one at a time.

Busted my transfer case forty miles from my home five miles off road on a logging road. Going down a small hill and it jumped out of gear making a grinding noise in four wheel high. After ten minutes of searching I could only get into four wheel high. I put it in park once and it started rolling down the hill. I thought me and my friend was going for a long walk. Nursed it home. Nothing new or shining just mud and in need of a used transfer case. Never happened before after Jeeps and trucks since the seventies. Just glad to pull in the drive way.
