Bronco vs. Wrangler

It's just the square headlights that is un-American because most of us are not fair and square :)
Bronco will avoid the square headlights, I am sure bec of the their failed Bronco ll attempt (and of course the YJ)

Real jeeps don't have a padded dash.
I agree, that's why they call them Bronco

Whatever. I don't do fanboy. Not even for jeeps, and I dare anyone to match how long I've been riding in, driving or owning jeeps.

[Unless you're older than me and went home from the hospital in a Willys as a newborn I doubt you can. ;)]

I will still love the TJs.
I just don't like the JLs that's all.

agree, I assumed it went without saying, there's not a chance a Bronco would replace my TJ - it would replace my wife's 5th gen 4runner as her daily and would relieve the TJ of full-family camping trip duties. And hopefully the removable top relieves me of the pressure to teach her to drive a stick so she can drive the TJ.

I'm not terrible brand loyal having owned Pontiac, Chevy, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, Mini, and Jeep. So if the Bronco turns out to be nice, maybe I can talk my wife into one when the kids are out of college and we ditch the Mini-van. It depends on how fast they depreciate in value at 30,000 miles. That's typically when I buy vehicles. After someone took the 2 year, 30,000 mile hit and has had all the recall work done on them. If they hold there value and cost $35k with 100,000 miles, no thanks.

They may even have a 2.7L manual option by the time she'd be looking. My wife's Toyota and Mazda mini trucks in high school and college were manual. My older daughter drove a 6spd Mini Cooper in high school and college. So the only one still sort of learning to drive a stick is my youngest daughter. She's not quite there, but can get from point A to point B with one if necessary.

My father in law has owned Ford F150 trucks going back to the early 90s when I met my wife so he's become somewhat brand loyal.

I'm kind of hoping with FCA facing off against this new Bronco line up it will motivate FCA to innovate more with their line up. Personally I don't like much of their newer vehicles. I would love to them do away with the current Cherokee design and come out with a new beefier, rugged Cherokee that that is more like the XJ. Probably a pipe dream lol

Rack and pinion. Not particularly impressed - they often tend to have a short lifespan. And I'd be FAR more impressed with the Bronco's IFS if it were a Twin I-Beam. As soon as Ford moved away from that setup, they started having the same multiple front end issues as Chevy.

I'm still pleasantly surprised to see anyone bringing a brand new vehicle to market with a manual transmission. Now to convince Ford to put it behind the V6.

Trying to talk the wife into trading our JK two door in for a two door Bronco. I bought an '04 TJR earlier this year. Still have my JK too, but I think I could dig that Bronco more. TJ is different, that raw, utilitarian feel you can't get with any new vehicle. The JK as nice as it is, power, ride. Is just a vehicle to me. I'm not loyal to any make, but I think Jeep is getting it's ass kicked by that Bronco, at least on paper. It looks WAY better then a JL, can get 35"s, lockers, armor. Jeep needs to get it's shi# together.

Agreed

I wasn't interested in trading my '18 Tacoma for a new Jeep but this new Bronco has got me thinking, especially in a couple years when they are willing to deal, some of the bugs have been worked out, and the aftermarket has had a chance to gel.
TJ will always be here however.
