Speedi sleeve

2004 Rubicon rear drivers side axle leaking .. shop wants almost 400 to replace seal and bearing and no guarantee due to possible groove worn in the shaft and I just discovered speedi sleeves ... is this a viable option .. used search and only found a couple mentioned but nothing on end result ...

That's awfully close to the cost of new axles...
And they usually come with new bearings and seals.

I've never bought new ones, but if they come with everything installed that sure makes for a simple solution.

Also, OP, you could take the axle out yourself and bring it to an automotive machine shop and have them press on the new bearing and seal. I assume you don't have access to the equipment to do it yourself. Plus you can have them check the sealing surface when they remove the old ones. They will be familiar with speedy sleeves and if there is a groove in the surface you can consider getting a new axle at that point.

Yeah, best of the best, American Made Revolution Gear and axle for 604 retail. The bearings are already pressed on.

I have debated buying the 300 dollar press from harbor freight but being that they have a recall on the replacement to the recalled jack stands I don't really want to trust it

Anyone ever used speedi sleeves on the axle seal surface?
