Grab bar install

hello, I have some new grab bars that I just purchased for my 2003 TJ. I want it to replace the bolts with stainless steel. Does anyone know the size and thread of the bolts that are used in a TJ?

You can always take one to Lowes, match it up and buy, or order from Zon.

Lowes sucks for matching bolts IMHO. Their selection isn't good, and most of the stuff is in bags. Most any Ace hardware or even TSC is better for what you are doing.

I agree come up Lowe's sucks when trying to figure this stuff out. What is TSC? Thanks for the help.

You can poke the bolt through the bag at lowes and fit it.

My lowes only has worn out decals, but yeah, this if it's available.

You do know that stainless steel is considered a low grade soft metal right? I don't think I would use SS on that type of equipment.

There are almost as many grades of SS fasteners as there are carbon steel. I don't consider SS to be low grade soft metal unless I buy them in ungraded form at big box stores.

That was sort of my point. If you don't know which kind of SS you just picked up at Home Depot it's probably crap.

Ace is where I go locally. Then my other goto is McMaster-Carr.
And just a note, for a grab bar I would not be afraid of using stainless bolts on it. A286 is pretty strong.

Just use some loctite 8150 anti-seize on your SS bolts. They're not fun to remove when you snap one due to heat seizure!
