What did you do to your TJ today?

Nothing too exciting, but it does look a little nicer and should help kill some of the road noise. Once it warms up here (next spring) it should lay a little flatter too.

Total cost $18 at Home Depot. Mat was 3x6, so just a little measure and cut and a nice fit.

Took care of a vacuum leak that was keeping my HVAC controls and cruise control from working, and replaced my blower motor resistor so I have all four fan speeds again.

This isn’t the season to not have control of your heat!

Is there two? Oh yea, the "right" and the "wrong". Bernie Sanders is why I moved from VT. Instead of giving illegal immigrants free social security benefits, I'm all for giving them a free ride home.
Edited to not get banned for breaking forum rules.
Kamala "Microstamping" Harris is a large part of the reason I moved from California. Instead of giving illegal immigrants free social security, medical care, education, housing, and food; I'm all for giving them a free ride home and closing the border! I'm not a huge fan of the GOP - although I think Trump is the BEST thing that has happened to them in decades - but I'm even less a fan of the looneys on the Left!

Someone else may have already replied on this, but...these work fine...once. If you later try to remove the panel they will break (I have had 100% failure on removal) so you will end up using a new one in every slot, every time you remove the panel.

I just keep a bag of them in the glove box at this point.

edit: drove to vote, drove to work, drove to get dinner. Ordered some blue LED lights to try and get the A/T shift indicator to match the hvac panel and aftermarket radio hues. Ran codes. There are no codes (still). Nice.

Something I found that had a profound impact to tighten up the shifting would be to check the (4) bolts that hold the shifter to the top of the transmission. I found that these bolts were so loose on my '01 that I needed to tighten down the bolts 1/4".
went nuts on those bolts last night - they didn't budge at all. In fact, made me think that if they were 1/4" loose, that would create a helluva rattle.

But I'll just throw this out there and see what people think: Before I start exploring having significant transmission work done, what are some "simple-ish" fixes that might help make my 5 spd manual on my 4.0 feel a little less like there are walnuts and legos in my transmission? So far I've replaced the fluid w/ Redline, looked at the bolts per @CharlesHS suggestion, and I'm thinking about putting in a new OEM MOPAR rubber transmission mount. I'm open to other suggestions!

And I ordered all new Ranchos this morning - I'm excited and my wife's pissed!

Well yesterday on the way home I heard a strange rattle noise from the (what I thought) passenger side. Didn't have a chance to look at it then, but I did when I got home today I found my driver's side rear shock upper bushing worn out.
Shocks are now in my future.

A couple years ago my Jeep was making some rattling noises that I could not pin down. Finally found out that the bar pin came completely out of my left rear shock and it was banging against the gas tank. The bolts were still there though so I have no idea how it happened but man that rattle was driving me nuts.

Ironically, my shocks (Skyjacker) were so bad I didn’t even feel the difference with the one no longer attached to the body 🤣

took my no longer needed front license plate holder off, put in new cam and crank position sensors, and changed the plugs..tomorrows plans are for changing the fuel, air, and oil filters, changing the oil, checking all the other fluid levels and doing a nut and bolt check before our planned desert ride this weekend

Sunday at 4 pm I gave a kid manual driving lessons . He overheated the clutch and stalled it
and ground the gears .

Sunday at 5:15 I determined the next kid that wants to learn to drive a manual won’t be doing it in mine.

Aside from that, a quick/tight steering lifted TJ is too much to handle while figuring out a manual.

I researched the link on how to make an aftermarket switch illuminate....it became quickly apparent that lighted cup holders are about the closest I’m going to get to that mod.

I’ve got a dead pedal for RC coming , needs fitted mats .... been considering what to do with it ....it’s a really solid Rubi, kind of odd with the bed liner exterior , but clean and nice. I don’t really want to sell it, but it’s sitting a lot more with the soft top on and winter setting in.

Thinking of building a new shop, that would help have a good place for it .

Well not actually on my TJ, but for it. I finally installed a retractable air hose reel. I got tired of the POS hose I had that was always tangled and in the way. This one is mounted overhead.

Shit. How much hose will it hold? I think I need one, I'm tired of my hose getting tangled on the garden hose holder I've been using...
