Which was how OD was originally intended to be used when it became popular/common in the 1970s. The first ODs were electric, you had to switch it on the engage it.
Might as well go back to stock 3.31 gears too. Slap in a BorgWarner automatic TOD 2-speed transfer case and you could have basically an entire F150 TJ haha
Old post but, I saw a mod to put a push button switch on the side of the auto shifter handle. Struck me as a bit odd so I paid attention to the next rig I got into with the shifter and the 42. Your index finger when you grab the shifter to take it out of park is literally closer to the OD off button than it is to a button on the shifter stalk.
That’s true. Once you get in the habit it’s not a bad transmission. To be honest, if I could easily swap one into my current rig I would, just because I am starting to not like the manual in the rocks.
I started not liking manuals in the rocks in 2003 on a Johnson Valley trail called Sledgehammer. IIRC I was the only one with a manual transmission that weekend.
Yep, I am right there with you. I like the manual on the road, but once I get into the tough obstacles I find myself wishing I had an auto.

He may not but I bet I know someone who can. We're about to find out if the WF PCM is indeed unable to be programmed.
There would be no reason it couldnt be programmed. I just dont believe he offers anything but factory software.
Had a phone discussion with wranglerfix a few weeks ago, he can do a lot more but he’s sorting out legal concerns. If you have something you need, you should give him a call.
Mark - so the calibration can be changed, just not a complete re-write or software update?
The legal concerns are, “for off-road purposes only” once a performance tune has been added.
