What did you do to your TJ today?

Ripped off the dash because dude before me painted it red and the radio he installed doesn’t even work 🤦🏽‍♂️

Started working on replacing the waterpump and thermostat. Got everything ripped off, cleaned up, installed new thermostat, and had to stop. Hunching over that bad boy hurts a middle-aged guys back!! Better to stop than to get sloppy, even that close to the finish line. Tomorrow I’ll put the waterpump on reassemble, and hopefully be ready to rock!

Made some new door limiting straps cut up some old ratchet straps and sewed them up on sewing machineView attachment 214488View attachment 214489

This was just the practice one
Is sewing difficult? I bought a JUKI industrial machine and have never used it. I picked up some big needles and some heavy kevlar thread. At one point, I had hoped to make kevlar pouches for body armor. Never sewed before. I jumped in with both feet assuming I could figure it out.

I installed the second seat heater I got for Christmas for the passenger side.

When I installed the driver side one last month, I discovered the inner shifter boot was torn. I ordered the part and since I had the center console out today, I figured this was a good time to install it as well.

When I removed the old inner shifter boot, I was able to see the top of the transmission. I discovered the shifter tower dust boot was also torn. Once again, the WrangerTJForum came through on helping me identify what the part was called and locating where I could get a replacement. Replacement boot should be here next week.

Since the weather was nice, I also decided to learn how to install the snow chains I purchased back in the summer. I figured it would be easier to learn now, than when it is below freezing. The instructions were good, and it was pretty straight forward. The most difficult part was getting the chains back in the little storage bag they came in.

No its not really hard checkout the sailrite videos on youtube, my machine is an ultrafeed and made by them and their video library is top shelf

To add to this...Jeep is mostly back together, but something I’ve been meaning to do is hit the multifunction stalks and CC buttons with clear coat. Whenever I clean them I can see some of the paint smear, so I wanted to prevent the symbols from rubbing off. Got some SEM satin clear and went to work.

I thought I had messed up the CC buttons with the adhesion promoter because they had some sort of chemical reaction to it.

But after sending it with some clear they came out great.

How does this paint feel to the touch after it dries? I love the look but would have to have it be tacky afterward...

Feels the same. If I really wanted to be picky I could have wet sanded it to smooth out some of the orange peel but I can’t tell any difference.

Put some KillMat in just now. I'm kinda doing section by section. I have the front passenger side and the rear cargo area done. Haven't driven it yet. Hope that little bit I installed helped a little bit with sound.

Although last night I ran a Decibel meter while driving (in town) and it never got up past 73db.
Highway here I come.

quick question, should I run the new trans cooler I’m installing inline with the radiator cooler or bypass and cap the radiator cooler?
Inline, you need the radiator to warm up the trans fluid when it's cold also.

I mounted mine inline on my 2005. I tied into the OEM transmission line on the drivers side. I carefully cut the metal crimped ferrules off of the drivers side line, and removed the OEM rubber hose. I reused the metal line that goes into the transmission connector and ran new hose from the inlet and outlet of the second cooler.

Here's a picture somebody posted earlier, and how I ran my lines. The only difference is both of my rubber hoses are run out on the drivers side.
