I don't know what that means, you do things a certain way when it matters and when it doesn't, you don't. There is no reason to do anything except clean and weld, that's it. You can be stupid about it but that won't change the need.We all have our ways of doing things mrblaine.
I know you know, but for everyone playing along at home. That Jeep is the perfect example of one that would benefit from HA.

That one is one that doesn't wheel especially hard but does a lot of hauling ass on bumpy roads.I know you know, but for everyone playing along at home. That Jeep is the perfect example of one that would benefit from HA.
Go fuck yourself. I was right the first time I explained it and that isn't going to change. Yes, there are times for pre and post heat, this is not one of them so stop it already.Mrblane, the personal attack is not needed. Pre and post heating is quite common. I would have thought someone as smart as you ( sarcasm ) would have known that.
Fuck off. I explained it, there are times when pre and post heat is required, this is not one of them. If you actually weld, someone taught you wrong, if you don't, then you are repeating some bullshit you read on the internet that is wholly inapplicable and you are confusing folks that may be trying to learn how to do things. There is exactly zero danger of the track bar mount cracking the welds, it isn't that large, it is steel, it requires nothing except normal cleaning to prep it for welding. Now knock it off.My goodness your sensitive! Swearing at me does not make you right, it just shows your lack of decency.
It isn't required. Stop it already. And no, your advice is not sound because it isn't applicable. There is not enough mass for it to matter. Why so aggressive? If pre and post heating are not necessary, it hurts nothing to do. You will get easier penetration with it though. I err on the side of caution when repairing critical components. You obviously don’t have that concern. That’s fine. My advice is sound. It is, after all , a moot point because both you and I are not repairing this concern. Hopefully the OP can find a qualified welding shop to do a professional, safe repair. Good day Sir!
Well, that’s funny. My opinion and your opinion differ. That’s ok. Your name calling is another matter. Try to conduct yourself like an adult, not a child.
Fixed it ever so slightly for you. The rest is 100% spot on.This is NOT cast iron. It is steel. Thus the grain structure is completely different and does NOT require pre/post heating. Neither is this a large forging that would suck the heat out of a weld. So, again, no pre/post heating is required.
If you want to pre/post heat then knock your self out. Your shop, your rules. But in this instance it just is not necessary. I guess you can skin a cat by sucking on its scrotum, but when I skin a cat I use a knife. To each his own.
I do appreciate your input tho. It's best to always get an extra set of eyes on a post to be sure no necessary step is accidentally omitted. Thank you for that. (Sincere)
What I am actually known for is starting off by gently correcting the bullshit. Then with a tiny bit more assertiveness if you are insistent, and then if the misinformed wish to continue their stupidity, I stomp on it hard. Go back and read the progression again to figure that out. It is very common and well documented. I'll only tolerate your bullshit for a short while. There are many ways to skin a cat. As long as the job is done safely that is all that matters. The personal attacks are uncalled for and show a true lack of professionalism. It would appear mrblane is known for that on this board and others. Wish you all a great day!
The problem is your lack of ability to recognize the difference between opinion and fact. The fact is no pre or post heat is required and your opinion that there should be is completely wrong. That is the difference between opinion and fact.Well, that’s funny. My opinion and your opinion differ. That’s ok. Your name calling is another matter.
