Hey Everyone! I've gotta replace the front driveshaft U-Joint on my 2002 Jeep TJ. Does anyone know which ones i need to get? And also how many do i need? I plan on just doing the front driveshaft u-joint for now. Thanks!

Advanced auto parts has a good ujoint kit for rent to tackle this job, just make sure to check that everything is there if you check it out
Also be aware of that if you're still running the original u-joints you may have to melt out some injected plastic or nylon that was used at the factory instead of snap rings

Thanks for your response. When you say 3 is that 2 for the axle and 1 for the front driveshaft? Or all 3 for the driveshaft?Spicer 5-1310x, there are three of them on the front driveshaft. That's a superb long lasting and stronger direct replacement for the older design Spicer the factory installed.

but it's so much easier to knock it out with a socket and hammer. i was given a hard time when i mentioned this tool, used it enough that i just bought one ....
I just rebuilt my front driveshaft and replaced all 3 U joint, and the centering ball/yoke. I bought my parts from Denny's Driveshaft. They sold all the needed parts in a kit.
Like tr21triton said, I used a hammer and punch to disassemble and a big C clamp for reassembly. The U joint tool may be a little easier, but my way didn't take very long.

With a 6" vice and a couple sockets this is a super easy job. As mentioned, there may be some nylon to melt out. A bit of Kroil before you remove the old joint comes In handy too.
the u-joint press is easier if your know how to use a impact wrench or if you dont have one a ratchet !
I just purchased it and decided to get a pre-purchase inspection. Everything was good except he said the front u-joint has a little play.

No. For the axle shafts go with the Spicer 5-760x which is a significant upgrade over what the factory installed. The 5-760x was developed at Jeep's request for the Rubicon.
