Alex01 Silver Sport Build Thread

I learn a lot on this forum, which is great. But it also makes me realise that you have a fantastically helpful and generous community you have over there. I have only been on this forum a few months but I have already lost count of the number of offers of free parts, help getting things done, etc. I have seen. Sadly, as a TJ owner in the UK I am a bit of a rare oddity.

I took the jeep out for the first time since the overhaul. I'm happy to say it doesn't have any vibes up to 75mph, I didn't go any faster due to traffic. The seats felt great on my short 10 min trip but I'd imagine if you're wider than me, 190lbs 6ft, you'd want the wider seats since it's a snug fit.

The plan currently is to do the rear tuck before Moab. The metal should arrive Monday for the filler panels. After the rear tuck I need to raise the spare tire carrier up 1.25" and finish the wiring for the 3rd brake light / license plate light.

The angle grinder was calling my name and I couldn't resist. Still need to wait until Monday to finish the top caps but tomorrow I'll likely cut the bottom and add the filler piece. Fairly easy so far. Just make sure you put a brace or tie down between the frame because it does move a tiny amount. I took blaines tip he dropped in @Chris's thread and used a 1.25" flat bar as a guide.

This is in my near future as well.

Would you please stop all this crap 🤬!!!! All you are doing is giving the rest of us more ideas of things we now can't live without. :unsure:

Nice job:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
As far as jobs go, so far this one has been on the easier side of the scale. I'm only about an hour of time into it so far. Since I'm posting photos of it though I'll need to make sure it looks good enough to convince you and the other Norcal members that my bumper is safe to pull off of during recovery lol.

At this point, my thought is to weld a fish plate to the inside rail as Blaine did with @Chris's, then weld the frame tie in back on the outside of the joint. That way even if my welds suck they should have enough surface area to strengthen it.
