PSC reservoir install guidance

I'd call. I placed my order with 4wheelparts and later followed up with PSC to adjust the order. It was a simple process, adjusting for -12AN feed, -8AN return and the shorter reservoir.

Not seeing that available. Is it a call PSC thing or do you happen to know where I could order one?
I have placed at least a 100 orders with them. I have called them in so I don't really know. I have never ordered a single thing from the website. In fact, the only thing I have ever used the website for is to get the phone number so I can call in my order.

Toximus’s thread came up and said they no longer make them. Hopefully that’s not the case.
 
Can you say more about when it will not work? The conditions, why it doesn't work, etc. That would be helpful.
I've been building and installing HP steering since 2000 when I got the first upgraded steering gear and pump from Tommy Lee. I've been through Lee's offerings, then Howe, and now PSC. Over the years as we ran into an issue and solved it, we brought that solution forward and it became part of every new install.

Power steering pumps do not have any suction, they are 100% gravity fed from the reservoir. The inlet on the pump defines the minimum height of the reservoir's outlet. Distance from the pump is also an issue that needs to be watched carefully. We started with -6 returns and -10 feeds to the pumps and about 1 out of 6 or 7 would run into starvation issues and smoke the pump. As the pumps get higher volumes and higher pressures, their tolerance for starvation gets less and less and the reliability of the feed line gets more important. After we smoked a few with -10, we moved to -12 no longer than 14" and solved the problem that way.

We also bumped up the return side to -8 since any restriction on the return side slows down how fast the reservoir can feed the pump.

Trust me, I'd love to be able to slap a bracket on the booster and run -10 and -6 since the upgrade to 12 and 8 adds a fair bit of cost as does the time to mount each reservoir closer to the pump. I just can't trust that to be reliable the vast majority of the time.

We started with hot rodded TC pumps which are the stock TJ pump. Then we moved up to the N pump at times, CB pumps, and now the CBR pumps. I've even made a bracket kit for a few of the stock car pumps.

The CBR pump has the ring and rotor out of the venerable P pump so it is as good as we are going to get in the stock location easily.
 
So, here goes... I'm not entirely certain the Reservoir I received is the "short version". At 7-3/8" tall, can anyone measure theirs to see if mine is bigger or smaller? :ROFLMAO: I had intentions of mounting on the fender but at that location, I will not be able to close the hood. Obviously depicted with my avatar, I have Metalcoak fenders so they could have a higher inner fender than most... However, I thought I read somehwere that PSC reservoirs can be mounted on highline fenders.

Where on the inner fender are you trying to install it?

Mine is 8.25"
 
It will fit where your cruise control/washer reservoir is. Your inner fenders are not higher than the hood line.

You'll likely not be able to run the feed line if you place it where the washer fluid is now anyways since it would be too short. Try and get it as far back on the flat surface of the fender as possible for clearance and ease of running the lines. The Cruise can easily be relocated.

That is my next approach. I pulled the cruise and evap purge out of the way and for the hell of it, I mounted the reservoir using PSC's master cylinder bracket. With the 90 deg anti splash fitting, I got the reservoir to a comfortable elevation. The bottom of the reservoir is lower than the height of the inner fender... Not by much. When I raised the reservoir in the bracket to match the fender height, the anti splash fitting just touches the hood.

Mine’s the taller over 8” version. No way to set it on my metalcloaks.

I ordered a small aluminum angle that I will bolt to the fender between the radiator overflow and the fender. Then I’ll bolt the reservoir on top. Also ordered a strip of steel that I can bend and utilize the bolt holes on the rear.

The ports on the reservoir will face the driver.

At least that’s my plan for now. I can test fit once everything shows.

I like the approach but will the height of the reservoir at that location place the fill line opening lower than the pump?
