Hey everyone! New to the forum, also new to TJ ownership!
Recently bought a 1999 4.0 sport-5 speed manual transmissionDrove fine during the test drives and getting it home but a few days later it wouldn’t completely turn over when starting. Spoke to the guy I bought it from and he immediately said bad crank sensor (pretty sure he knew beforehand). I disconnected the battery, reconnected and it started right up. Since then it’s been about 2 weeks and hasn’t had any issues with starting except once when it stalled when parking. Did the same thing and disconnected the battery and it started back up. Idle is a little rough, but no other issues I can feel or find. Had a check engine light only when it wasn’t able to start but I believe the battery disconnect cleared those codes and haven’t had anything pop up when driving, although I haven’t been going more than 10-15 miles in a trip.
I’ve ordered a mopar sensor for replacement but unsure if there’s anything else I should look in to currently or just swap the sensor first and go from there?
I’m very much a beginner with mechanic work and jeeps but am pretty handy and truly appreciate this forum and the how to section specifically! TIA for all the great help.
