Has anyone found a good interior trim paint match for saddle?

I am going to be doing the dash and door panels in my TJ in the saddle color to match my PRP seats. Has anyone found a good interior trim paint that comes close or matches the factory saddle color?

SEM Products 15173 Camel Color Coat - 12 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PH6MOYW/?tag=wranglerorg-20

I used this it’s just a little bit darker in the pic I sent my center console is the original saddle and my dash is all the SEM paint.

That’s perfect! How are you liking the finish. Does it look factory like in terms of quality?
It’s just a little darker I would say. But I’ve tried quite a few and this is the closest I can get. And this paint holds up. I drive my TJ daily and none of this pain is chipping off and I did not even put a clear coat. Try doing a white primer and it might come out even closer to the factory color you are looking for.

What color was your dash before? Mine is khaki so it may come out lighter simply because my dash isn’t black.

@Chris did you get similar results? I'm curious what your interior color code is. You mentioned 'Saddle', and mine is T6, "Saddle Tan", in a 97 SE. I was going to take this advice and call Vinyl Pro with my color code of T6, but if you two have had luck with this 'Camel' color then perhaps I should just do that.

I haven’t done this yet.

Ok. I just sent an email to SEM, asking whether 15033 "Saddle Tan" is a true match to factory code T6 "Saddle Tan". Will let you know what I learn.

Update: SEM's "Saddle Tan" is a color from the 70s and is not a match for our TJs. TJ "Saddle Tan" color "T6" is matched by SEM's color 4976. They do not make it in aerosol, but they can advise on what local shop they recommend to mix you a batch in SEM "Color Coat". I'm currently waiting for their recommendation of a local spot in Greenville SC, and what formula to provide them with.

I went through this looking for the same color and went to one if their recommended shops to get custom mixed paint in a rattle can. It was $35 for a can. Wasn't even close, and the dude spent a couple hours going through different paint codes trying to match it. The Sahara interior paint color thread has lots of info but evidently saddle tan is not a Sahara thing but a '97-'98 only thing. That camel mentioned above has been the closest I've found so far. My half door panels are painted in it and while close'ish, it's different for sure.

Got it, thanks. Mine is indeed a 97, and it's an SE not Sahara. I'm thinking that if I take Vinyl Pro's recommended formula / paint codes and use their recommended local SEM mixer, I'll be ok. Or is that exactly what you did?

I called SEM with codes of what I thought I needed from research on here. They told me their saddle wasn't correct just like you. I went to their recommended distributor with all the codes and the panel from under the steering wheel. He tried all the codes I have him plus just trying a couple he thought would match, but none did. I bought a can of the closest for his troubles. I'll try and find the thread where I outlined there processes.

@SkylinesSuck , thanks for this. Ok, sounds like SEM 4976 did not work out. But, you did mention the difference between 97–99s and later models, or even other trim packages like the Sahara. I'm wondering if maybe my 97 SE will be the model that 4976 actually works for? We'll see what happens when I get the shop to mix things up for me. Thanks again!

I have grabbed "tan" panels from an SE that perfectly match my Sahara so I'm pretty certain it's a year, not a trim thing. But by all means, give it a shot. Maybe my dude didn't know what he was doing. I hope that's the case. I would take along a panel for reference. See if the guy can custom match it for you. You can always test on the back and see immediately.
