Worst Advice Ever

I was perusing social media and ended up reading a lot of bad advice (as usual) related to Jeep problems and Jeeps in general. I know this forum is full of pretty experienced jeepers, but I’m curious, what is some of this worst advice you have received related to your TJ? I’ll start with an issue from 7 years ago. “Oh you have death wobble!? You need a Fox steering stabilizer” Please share your experience!

My Jeep is very light, so my lift yielded 3.5 inches. Ive been offroad and my TJ has performed flawlessly -to the trails (3+ hours) and back.

2- “You need adjustable lower front control arms or all new aftermarket arms with your lift”

I’ve kept mine stock, but replaced them all with new OE. No issues. Fantastic ride.

3- “Chinese LED’s are pure garbage.”

The one’s I run, on both my Jeeps, have been an absolutely fantastic upgrade. No issues (or flickering) with them in the 3 years of ownership.

Well, I took that advice in 2005. Put a Aussie locker in my rear Dana 44 in my 2003 Sport.


Put it in, 220 miles of I5 and then sloppy browns camp. Red mud and slippery conditions.


33’s.


No rocks.


After that day, it was locked like a spool.


Opened it up after getting home.

Three pins sheared. One holding them. If they let go my R&P would have been toast.

Pulled it, Aussie replaces it. Sold the new Aussie.



Nope. Won’t do it again. 4 pins hold the locker together. I don’t trust them in the rear. I don’t like them in the front. Full case or no locker.

My opinion and experience. I might be wrong 17 years later too. But I won’t do one in the rear again.
