Bad idea time!

We have a non profit mountain bike society where I live. They are developing an entire valley for mountain bike trails plus a campground plus adaptive trails for handicapped. Once you have the non profit society status it is amazing how much funding is available.

Since they are working on Crown Land they had to consider ALL users and develop a plan to accommodate ALL those users. They are one small part of the Trails Master Plan. But the scale of the plan which is going to drive development encompasses a massive area. And gives development direction for many years.

And yes, you could do trail guiding for newbies. I'll send a pic of the map for the most developed Adventure Park in our area. It also has shooting sports...you can see that it's safe from the direction of fire as well as the terrain.

Only thing Ill say is this...For out of staters like me your competition would be moab, I dont think I need to say more there. Now if you can draw enough from the PNW to make it work, then bamo. A nice RV campground would be huge for this. As someone who has been using a fifth wheel for over a decade now, its all about the amenities. Water/Sewer/Electricity/Cable and of course WIFI. The other thing is a pool/water park. Thats all the kids care about, and if the kids are not having fun mom is not having fun, and we know what that means.

Hell I'd team up with your DNR to build the off road park to help with insurance and land aquisition and focus on the campground for your main source of revenue.

Oh yea, that area is "hippy lettuce" mecca. CA is still about a year out in regards to recreational "lettuce" sales, however.

Oregon is a perfect place for this too. Beautiful scenery, great weather (meaning moderate winters and moderate summers, when compared to most places in the U.S.). We've got forest and country for as far as the eye can see, tons of mountain ranges, etc. As long as you stay away from Portland (unless you like tree huggers and hippies), then you'll love it here.

You know, in all reality I think something like this could succeed big time. How much you want a bet that I could get local Jeep dealerships (i.e. NW Jeep in Beaverton) and probably even Toyota dealerships to sponsor it in some way or another. You know, like tell these dealers that if they want to bring their new Rubicon models out to let people see what they can do off-road, we'll give them that free advertising in exchange for them either providing us with some kickbacks, or paying us X amount of money.

I'm just saying, if you were a Jeep dealer, you'd have a lot to gain from sponsoring something local like this, where you would undoubtedly get a ton of exposure and advertising.

They would have their own very "special" parking area, at least. Right? The funny thing that I've noticed around here is a well built Jeep seems to collect a following light bars and angry bird grills.

But I've noticed it's really only the JKUs, not JKs. Of course that could be because JKUs are much more common than JKs, but even down here in Salem, I've seen more JKUs with angry bird grills than I can begin to count.

You're right though, it's a cheap mod that says "look at me"! But man... It just completely ruins that iconic Jeep front end, I really hate it!

Next April fools, I'm going to put an angry bird grill on the Jeep in this sites banner... Haha! We'll see how long it takes people to notice.
